Your storage chest color coding

Arranged around a workbench:
Green - anything related to gardening (and later add one inside the greenhouse for seed storage)
Purple - gems/coal/batteries/ore/ore bars
Red - bombs, staircases, mushrooms, bats, slime, unused weapons to be sold back
Brown - wood, stone, sap, weeds, tree seeds
Blue - anything related to fishing

I put bombs away first thing after returning home to avoid accidents.

I really like this thread and noticed a few things. First, we all have a blue chest for fish and fishing gear.

This is my new monstrous chest storage, I have another couple dozen chests around and about but those are mostly raw materials and some of my treasure stuff.

Honestly I'm not as organized but I do have a 'small' system. Green for my main and general stuff, really it was my first chest.

White for fishing gear and accessories. Black for trash and special orders/quest items. Red for things to be processed, pre artisian goods. Purple for wizard gifts (Yeah I originally accidentally started off as a man so I needed to change that-)

I mean it’s technically sorted by the way I mentally catagorize stuff and the colours definitely help. It’s a bit crazy if you aren’t me though as without mental context it’s just a mess

But...is it like "okay, prismatic shard...row 12, column 26..."? Gotta admit it is cool, but the villagers probably got a little worried about the young farmer after crafting chest number 200. Maybe a bit sooner...

it’s sorted in like a chronological order as you walk through it

I don't have a lot of chests.

1 White chest = holding items for special ocassions, like for the grange display
1 Red Chest = fruit for preserves/wine
1 Green chest = seeds/tools/fertilizer

The other ones are just brown. The two inside are for clothes, the one outside is for miscellaneous items. There's also one each in the barn and coop, but those were used for milk/egg storage before I had enough machines to process my animals' produce every day, and are now used to hold hay so I don't carry it around everywhere. Riverside farm, so I don't have enough grass to keep any in the silo for longer than a day.

Dark green - vegetables
Light green - fruits
Yellow - seeds
Red - Animal produce & fish roe awaiting processing
Black - Mining (ores, bars, gems, etc.)
White: Bones, fertiliser
Brown - building materials, random junk I can't sell or destroy that I don't want
Light blue - random fishing junk
Purple: monster drops
