If you go through Leo's 2-heart even without skipping out of it, and you haven't seen Leo on the island before that, he disappears. He is no longer anywhere on the island. Bummer if it happens to coincide with his birthday and you wanted to give him a gift.

When the friendship between me and Leo is lower than 6 hearts, he shouldn't become one of the villagers I send gifts to. Because he still lives in the Ginger Island and haven't moved into Stardew Valley, so I couldn't find him in the Pelican Town.

So if you get the recipient to your gift and go to genger Island do not open your mail till after the feast of the winter star or else it'll change whoever from before to leo, hope this helps
