Dialogue in the beginning

5 years later

I am so bored of working at the joja factory. Wait, I still have the letter grandpa gave me in one of his desk drawers? I think it's time for me to open it.

*Letter*

Dear David,
If you are reading this, you must be in dire need of a change.

The same thing happened to me, long ago. I’d lost sight of what mattered most in life… real connections with other people and nature.

So I dropped everything and moved to the place I truly belong

I’ve enclosed the deed to that place. My pride and joy: Gemstone Farm. It’s located in Stardew Valley, on the southern coast. It’s the perfect place to start your new life.

That was my most precious gift of all, and now it’s yours. I know you’ll honor the family name, my boy.
Good luck.

Love, Grandpa

P.S. If Lewis is still alive say hi to the old guy for me, will ya?

*Letter finish*

Well, I guess I should head to the farm.

*Gets on bus*

“Hello! You must be David.” Says Robin

I nod, not knowing what to say to this person.

“I’m Robin, the local carpenter. Mayor Lewis sent me here to fetch you and show you the way to your new home. He's there right now, tidying things for your arrival.”

“The farm’s right over here if you’ll follow me.”

“Okay thank you, Robin.” I said to her.

“This is Gemstone Farm,” She says and then notices the look on my face, “What’s the matter? Sure it’s a bit overgrown, but there's some good soil under that mess! With a little dedication, you'll have it cleaned up in no time.”

“And here we are, your new home.”

“It's pretty cool!” I say

“Ah, the new farmer!” Says another person that came out of the house.

“Welcome! I'm Lewis, Mayor of Pelican Town.”

“Nice to meet you!” I reply but Lewis keeps going on.

“You know, everyone's been asking about you. It's not everyday that someone new moves in. It's quite a big deal!”

“Really? I wouldn't have guessed.” I said sarcastically.

“So… you're moving into your grandfather's old cottage. It's a good house… very ‘rustic’.”

“Rustic? That's one way to put it…” says Robin, “Crusty might be a little more apt, though.”

“Rude!” Says Lewis, Don't listen to her, David. She's just trying to make you more dissatisfied so that you but one of her house upgrades.”

“Okay… I'm going to head inside, I am tired after the journey. Night!” I said, hurrying inside, away from these strange people.

Alright, here is the, not very well wanted, part two!

Part two, Penny's perspective

“Okay Jas and Vincent, time for math!” I said to the kids.

“But we wanna talk about the farmer! Someone just moved in and I wanna meet them. You should meet them too, Miss Penny!” said Vincent

“Maybe later, Vincent, right now we need to work!”

*David walks by and notices Penny*

“Oh hey! I'm David, the new person in town, and you are…?”

“Oh, hello there. I'm Penny. I teach Jas and Vincent when they are not in school. Nice to meet you.” I say, smiling.

“Hi Mr David! I'm Vincent and this is Jas!” He jumps up and points to Jas, who is still sitting on the ground next to me, “Mrs Penny is the best teacher ever! I'm so glad to meet you!”

“Hi… nice to meet you David.” said Jas to David.

*David gives Penny a gift

“Here, I heard from some other townspeople that you love poppyseed muffins? I baked one for you!” Said David to me, surprisingly, and handed me a muffin.

“Thank you, I love this!” I say as I smile at him. I feel a little small crush form because he is so nice.

The next day he comes up to me again and talks to me. “Hey Penny?” He asked me.

“Yes, what is it?”

“Did you meet my grandfather?” He asked me, and I was kind of shocked that he was asking me.

“Yes I did. He was a very kind old man. I could tell that he was kind through and through! He was so nice to everyone in this town, including me. I am so sorry for your loss of him.” (This is obviously something that would not happen but, creativity?)

Part Two Continued but David’s perspective

Well Penny seems pretty nice. I love that she tutors kids, that is awesome. Honestly, she is pretty cool, but we just met so I'm not sure.

Was the muffin too much? Oh well, I should probably get started on the farm, buy some seeds and such.

Hopefully, my seeds will actually grow, I don't have good history with farming.(I laughed when I wrote this)

*Later after planting seeds

“Well the seeds are planted and watered.” I muttered while wiping sweat from my forehead. I guess I will check up on them tomorrow. I might go out and buy some sprinklers.

*Tomorrow

Wow, this is some good soil. It really looks like there are only 3 days till they're finished. Better water them now.

*Later that day

“Oh hi David!” There's Penny! “Hi Penny, what are you doing today?” I ask because it looks like she is just sitting there. “Not much, just reading really. Do you like to read?” she asked me. “A little every now and then.”

“I mostly like to read romance books (haha) and fantasy books. You?” I ask because honestly, I want to get to know her better.

“Well I like to read a lot of books, but my favourite categories are, enemies to lovers, (idk why lol) romance, and how to books because I'm kinda clueless on what to do sometimes.”

*Later IDK how much later but yeah maybe 1 o-clock. At this point, David is at two hearts with Penny ig

*David walks near Alex house (hasn't met Alex yet tho) and sees Penny helping George with mail

“George, let me help you.” She said to the old man next to her.

“No I can do it myself! I didn't ask you to!” George yelled at her.

*She gets the mail and gives to george

“Oh! David, you were watching us?”

“I was, and you did a kind
thing there Penny!”

*She blushes (idk but crush?)

I’m not sure but crotchety old men aren't the best perspective so maybe Sam’s thoughts about Penny maybe being interested in the new farmer? Or Caroline thinking the new Farmer might be a good influence on her daughter while Abby only sees him as an opponent in the Egg Hunt.
