first of all, please have a button which can let player to switch between old and new fonts and translation.
The new font is too abrupt, too cute(preschool style?), I still prefer the old pixel font, and the people who play this game are not all children, do not need such a cute font.
The new translation has made a lot of trouble on my access to the guide. can't search by the new name.
Given that some people may still like the new changes, my suggestion is to give them a switch that can be switched.

According to https://zh.stardewvalleywiki.com/User:Stevenlele/Translation_changes, spring onion is now translated as '带叶洋葱'. It's a I think maybe that's not the best choice.


I personally think '春葱' or '葱' would be good enough. There is a culture difference of using the term 'onion'. For English user onion has two types, the one with bulb (ex. common onion) and the one lacks a fully-developed bulb but has long leaves (ex. Green onion). In English they can both include the term onion, but in chinese, the one with bulb is '洋葱' while the one with long leave is called '葱'. For example, chinese onion is called '葱' instead of '洋葱'. Spring onion is concerned closer to green onion since their main part to eat is the long leaves, not the bulb. Some articles suggest in certain area spring onion may be bulb onion but is eaten as green onion. Thus, in Chinese concept spring onion is closer to '葱'. And then you no longer need to include the term '带叶' since '葱' are well known to have long leaves. Thus, the result is much simpler, more catchy, and follows daily speaking habits.

At first, there were no particularly strong emotions about this update and the heated discussions that arose because of the translation. But in just two days, I have seen the arrogance and self-righteousness of the new translation team in every way. The translation team explained the original intent of this translation correction, but it was more of a sophistry full of holes than an explanation. Furthermore, the first player to object to this font update was replied to with a very arrogant attitude. Players wanting to object had to give objective examples line by line, whereas translators wanting to refute it only needed a subjective description. You need to realize that you think the new font is cute and round is also just what you think, which again is not a reason to support that the new font is good. By recognizing dissenting voices as survivor bias and trampling on the feelings of the players, I'm not sure if this update is a so-called correction to such a great game and such loyal players, or if it's just the translation team's way of smugly showing off how educated they are.

对于星露谷这样一款成熟的游戏而言，我期待的是谨慎而负责任的改动，哪怕因此减缓新内容的制作。
然而，在没有大部分玩家支持的情况下，1.6.4的本地化自负地夺走了美妙的游戏氛围，以及回忆中最美好的那一部分。

语言不仅是工具，更承载着文化和感情。
在1.6.4的简中本地化中，尽管一些消除歧义、统一用词的努力是值得称道的。但更多的改动是没有意义甚至有害的。
例如：门卫——>保镖；山洞萝卜——>山洞胡萝卜；玫瑰仙子——>仙女玫瑰；谜之盒——>盲盒（我恨这个）；复活节——>彩蛋节……
这些毫无必要的改动，不仅毫无文化，而且破坏了原有的游戏氛围。“大厂”、“内卷”、“盲盒”这些该死的词汇，让我在游戏中时时想起那些油腻的宣传，以及无营养的消费文化。
如果“准确性”对你很重要，那么可以在不改变物品名称的前提下，在物品描述或wiki中加入“专业解释”。

字体方面，我也更喜欢以前的样式。现在给我的感觉，就是点进了一个app商店里随便下载的一个粗制滥造的骗钱小游戏。

说白了，我不信任现在的汉化组能维护我曾熟悉和热爱的游戏。

In the localization of 1.6.4, although some efforts to eliminate ambiguity and unify vocabulary are commendable. But more changes are meaningless or even harmful.
For example: gatekeeper ->bodyguard; Cave Carrots ->Cave Carrots; Rose Fairy ->Fairy Rose; Mystery Box ->Blind Box (I hate this); Easter ->Easter Egg Festival
These unnecessary changes not only lack culture, but also destroy the original gaming atmosphere. Damn words like "big factory", "involution", and "blind box" constantly remind me of those slavish propaganda and non nutritious consumer culture.
If "accuracy" is important to you, just add "professional explanation" to the item description or wiki without changing the item name.

In terms of font, I also prefer the previous style. The feeling it gives me now is that I clicked into a poorly made scam game that I downloaded randomly from a mobile app store.

To put it simply, I don't trust the current localization team to maintain the game I used to be familiar with and love.

1. 新的字体型号太大，看着太挤了。那些横全是斜的，“干”和“千”都分不清楚了。不否认会有人喜欢新字体，最好的解决办法就是加个换字体的选项。

2. 新汉化组这么专业，不会分不清“load”和“continue”的区别吧，主界面好好的“加载”能被改成“继续”？这个错误真的让我严重怀疑汉化组的水平。

3. 说实话，很高兴汉化组能修改以前错误的一些翻译，但请不要自己加戏，胡乱修改文本。诸如“大厂内卷”“小甜甜”等种种网络用语放在星露谷这么一个“几十年前的世外桃源小山谷”里，让人感觉不知所谓，严重破坏了人物的性格特点。

Hello. The original text is "You know, if I'd gone to college I'd probably be making six figures right now... but I just don't want to be part of that corporate rat race, you know?". "Corporate rat race" does seem to fit the new translation more, while the old translation isn't accurate enough - it's more about "an endless, self-defeating, or pointless pursuit" (cr. wikipedia), not being competetive with others as "勾心斗角" suggests. Also, "内卷" is simply a sociological term that has gone popular on Chinese SNS since some time around 2018, and "大厂" is a common term that stands for corpos (especially Internet corpos), which does fit Sebastian's character, since he's probably the only programmer in the town that goes online.

And what background do you think Stardew Valley was set? It’s clearly not 2018, is it? Sam’s father is at war, there are no cellphones, there are no modern harvest machines. Not hard to guess it’s several decades ago. Terms like “大厂”，“内卷”, are just destroying the game.

I understand this thread may be originally created for display/text error only, however, this simplified Chinese translation update has so many translation errors, including but not limited to the ones listed in existing threads. Therefore, asking the players to point out the mistakes one by one and justify with evidence is simply impossible and none of us is responsible for doing so. The translation team did not justify the changes they made to the game one by one, and the players should not be expected to do so to their mistakes. While many of the very kind people in this thread are providing detailed explaination to why a particular error is an error, they should not have to do this. What I have seen (not only here, but also on steam and across numerous Chinese social media platform) is that players as a community is questioning the ability even intention of the current translation team, and they have every reason to do so. The new translation team, from what they presented to the players, seems to be unqualified for their job as a whole, and judging from their attitude to the player’s feedback and comments, they are also unqualified for change. Even in this thread, I still see individuals who seem to be connected to the translation team, trying to justify their change of adding “大厂“ and ”内卷” into a game that is clearly set way before the time those words are even introduced and popularized on the internet. This update is an utter disappointment and has not only disappointed but also enraged the majority of the players, just look at the steam rating of the game of these two days after the update, a significant increase of negative ratings because of the translation update, and most of them, by players who has spent hundreds of hours into the game. As mentioned in several replies already, the response from the translation team so far to player feedback has been nothing but a display of arrogance and entitlement. If by now this new translation team is still not reflecting on their mistakes and still insists on prioritizing defending their choice instead of listening to the players, then I would argue that the only way of resolving this matter is a replacement of the translation team as a whole, however this can be done.
