It would probably be Alex if playing as a woman, but I thought the overall storyline marrying him as a man was pretty nice, even made George readapt his views.

Yes. When it comes to sexuality, I think the game is pretty open minded. However, there are two characters that I would see as "canonically" gay. For different reasons. One would be Emily, who just has very strong lesbian vibes. I think her and Sandy would be a cute couple that even would make sense when it comes to their respective story arcs. And the other one would be Alex. Not because he gives off any vibes, but because his whole gay love story arch is probably the best love story in the entire game.

A funny thing about Emily is that we consider her a bit of an esoteric because of her interest and knowledge of different stones, plants and meditation. Which is the typical esoteric stuff in our world. However, she exists in a world, where all of this esoteric stuff is not only a reality, but the effects are proven and measureable. Which makes her more of a doctor/scientist in that particular world.

That is a very interesting point of view that I didn't think of. But you are perfectly right: given that magic and aery stuffs are truly part of the world, we could see Emily more like a wizard in becoming, rather than a sweet weirdo.
