Windows Fishing "Perfect" after catching a gold fish in the same location with errors, giving normal quality fish.

Fishing - I have started multiple save files to test whether it was just one bugged. PC player used Fiberglass rod or bamboo (not tried other 2 rods) & whenever getting a perfect fish it makes the sound & shows the text but the fish goes normal quality in inventory, make a mistake & it is silver/gold. Makes the game unplayable honestly. Noticed it in the river & the lake, didnt try other locations.

i see this is a common issue online for the past year. Hoping to be a PC input as most I see have been commenting about switch for awhile.

Just checking, are you sure you're fishing in applicable fishing zones when you're getting these perfect catches? I assume you are, but perfect catches don't affect the quality of a fish if it was originally basic quality, and some low fishing zones (near shores/islands/bridges) give primarily low quality fish, which may be coincidentally rewarding you with basic quality, if you haven't done a lot of trials.
