Hello. I'm doing a sort of fishing pacifist run, and I will only be collecting fish for the community center and fish ponds. Does the game count it as throwing trash into the ocean if I release the fish I don't need back into the water? If it does count as littering, how does this impact gameplay?

On my iPhone 8 with iOS 16.6, I’ve lost more than 200 magic bait as I try to affix them to my iridium rod. I’ve gone back to previous saves and tried many approaches. The stack of 100+ bait always shows up as just one on my rod. And removing it from the rod - there’s still just one.
