Hello ConcernedApe & Other Players,
I am reporting a potential bug with the Jewels of the Sea power book drop rates on a legacy save file updated to the 1.6 patch on the Nintendo Switch.
Game Details
Platform: Nintendo Switch (No mods)
Game Version: 1.6
Save File Status: Legacy save created long before the 1.6 update. Currently in Year 9, Fall.
The Issue:
Despite opening roughly 10 fishing treasure chests a day for nearly two in-game years (thousands of total chests opened), the Jewels of the Sea book has never dropped.
I have verified the following to ensure it isn't player error:
1. The power is not unlocked in my Player menu's Special Items & Powers tab.
2. The book is not sitting in any chests on my farm.
3. My character was already at Fishing Level 10 with the Pirate profession active long before the 1.6 update dropped.
Because the bad-luck protection is supposed to guarantee a 100% drop chance after a few hundred chests, it appears that updating a highly advanced late-game save file to 1.6 broke the initialization of the fishing counter flags. The internal loop seems permanently stuck at a 0% drop rate, forcing me to rely entirely on the Bookseller to manually override the flag.
Thank you for your time and all your incredible work on the game!
