Why do so many people hate fishing?

I like escargot, I usually have a lot of snails from crab pots by Y2 and garlic is easy to grow in bigger quantities than you really need. +2 isn't bad and it lasts the whole day.

i'm not building my farm around a +1 to fishing

Clam Chowder's another good early recipe, since you get it with 3 hearts of Friendship with Willy. Lobster Bisque is my favorite (since Seafoam Pudding is more difficult ingredient-wise), but that only comes late in Year 2 or with 9 hearts of friendship with Willy.

I usually forget to do fishing buffs, but this thread is making me hungry! I may enjoy fishing more because I love eating seafood. ^^;

I think Fishing is actually a really good feature.Though Sdv is a farming game, it isn't necessarily farming centered. sure, farming is huge part of the game, but you could literally never plant those parsnip seeds and be fine. You go the whole game just fishing, foraging, and fighthing, and be completely fine. You could additonally just play for the social side, and again, be fine. That's something I like about Stardew valley. You can sort of choose how you want the game to go. you aren't restricted to one thing.

Checked it out. It looks like a good example of the very reasons why i don't enjoy modding. Game breaking all bc a player "doesn't like something/wants something". If a game is unfair or too hard, or something like that I get it, but aside from fish being put into the wrong biomes there is practically nothing wrong with fishing. This mod seems to just allow you to set settings for anything for whatever reason. Cool that it exists. Not my cuppa. Won't ever be recommending it to anyone tho. It has no interest in game balance.

This is why I have done very few serious QOL mods that I see: access all your chests? Nope. Infinite money? Nah. Suddenly stop time or absurdly fast farmer or everyone likes you at the click of a button? Only while testing mods that require certain heart levels, and not while playing for fun. I understand it if it's an actual accessibility issue (eg person has a hand problem that means rapid clicking instead of leisurely ones will cause damage) but I don't have those so I stick with just being bad at Junimo Kart.

For me the most appealing QOL mods are the ones that either effect something trivial (automatic gates) and leave the core game the same, or have game balance in mind (crab pots now no longer clutter the screen with anything but a little bobber... but you can't tell what they're carrying in advance.)

Ah yes, lobster bisque. I couldnt remember what the other +3 was off the top of my head.

I usually carry a small stack of maple bars on me though because i never know when i'm going to want a random +1 in something. They're nifty.

They are by and large much more difficult to catch than the regular milieu of hook-horking submarine species found in unmodded Stardew Valley. Accessing all chests at the same time is a no for me too, but I quite like having a button on my inventory screen to auto-empty my inventory items matching the contents of nearby chests. I feel there's a fine line between "Quality of Life Mod" and "Cheat Mod".

The auto-empty is part of the base game (at least now it is).

I must admit though, there are some absolutely breathtaking visual mods out there. If i ever get back into using mods i'll probably goof around with some of them

Nearby chests? The ones you haven't opened, but are a few tiles away from? From what I understand you can only auto-add to an opened chest in the base game.
