1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

I don't think using a single Quality Bobber constitutes "substantial help". I just checked my chest and I have 44 of them, likely just from perfect catches. It's not like I ever went out of my way to farm them. Getting the maximum size of 23 inches was a bit tougher though. <3
At level 10 fishing it's 100% chance of silver, a quality bobber or perfect catch just moves it to gold. Thus it's a perfect catch *and* a quality bobber, or fishing 14+ (seafoam pudding or lobster bisque and an enchantment) plus one of those two things. Which definitely in my eyes qualifies as "substantial help". Especially since at 65 mixed it's not that much less unruly than a catfish. While it's certainly possible to perfect catch (and with relative consistency if you're quite skilled of a fisherman), I don't think it would be fair to classify it as a trivial task.

Put another way, there is no fish harder to get iridium quality anywhere in the game, except the Scorpion Carp. Literally every other fish you can just combine adequate depth with a quality bobber and guarantee an iridium quality fish at fishing 10 (or at least have non zero odds of an iridium quality fish that way). Those are the only two which need a quality bobber and then more on top of that.

Made my first trip to the desert last night, but it was largely uneventful: I found some cactus fruits and coconuts, tried fishing in vain, met Sandy and bought some seeds for next year (incuding rhubard), and explored a couple of layers of the skull cave. I will probably address that more in winter. Fall is very busy with all my fields. I'm ready for the fall festival, with nine gold-star fruits and vegetables. I've started fishing more in earnest to finish the community center, and now am only short an ocean fish (tilapia) and two of the 'special' fish, a ghostfish and another one. I know I can get a ghostfish in the mines, as I've done it before. My goal is to level up my fishing so I can get the iridium rod, so I can really take advantage of the submarine fishing during the night market. Last time I paid $1000, caught a single squid thanks to my woeful fishing ability, gave it to Willie, and was dismayed when it didn't count for the ongoing quest. I finally gave Sebastian a gift he didn't dislike, a void egg. He's the only one of the townsfolk I have almost no relationship with. I also found Starfruit seeds somewhere -- either from Sandy's or the traveling cart. I had 3 before, because I got a Starfruit from someone and stuck it in the seed maker. The big disappointment is that I forgot about an Rare Seed I had in my garden chest: I was a few days into fall before I remembered it, and according to the notes it takes 'all season' to grow. Next year, I guess. :-/ Oh, and my oak resin taps are starting to come out, so I have multiple kegs producing various kinds of wine. I plan to continue expanding those, since I have a chest full of fruit -- from my foraging, farms, and fruitbat cave.
Oi, that's a shame, it doesn't quite all fall to grow, more like 24 days if I remember right, you might have still had enough time.

Fair enough! I just personally didn't consider a single Quality Bobber and a perfect catch to be non-trivial. :)

Local Legend
This is a little thing, but I noticed my Legend II Fish Ponds sometimes give me 22 Roe. You would think it would max out at 20, but whatever :)
All ponds have a small diminishing chance to give more roe before the cracker effect is applied

Similar to how a single pig could potentially give you a dozen truffles in a day, though the chance of it doing so are slim

one time i went to the barn and i had a baby cow. i wangted more goats b ut they neverf had any. i am confused where i can allow pregnancy. i guess i should put one goat in one state and the other goat in the other, maybe i can get goats that way or do i have to get a male goat? one year on the farm dad bought two bred Holsteins. both had female calves so we had to milk four cows. and i as the oldest boy had to milk two of them. then go to the house, get ready for school, etc. then milk them before we went to bed. those were the good old days.

All the goats and cows you get in-game are female.
Select the animal after you've pet them and look for the little udders icon to turn 'allow pregnancy' off or on.
If you want kids, your best bet is to turn pregnancy on for both goats and off for any other animals in the barn. That way, any chance of pregnancy has to go to the goats. They can only have a kid if they're an adult and there is space in their barn for another animal. Kids/lambs/calves will not jump to another barn.

As a side effect of the endless drought we've been having, Ginger Island is off limits to Lil Quackers for a long while probably now.
Solar Panel and Ginger Island is a catch-22, so the only alternative source of Battery Pack are the iridium bats and rain-totem induced artificial rain.

Though, Lil Quackers is much more laid back, so off limit content poses no threat to my enjoyment of Stardew Valley. We have finally unlocked the first layer of Mastery and of course the Farming one will be unlocked first with the animal crackers.

Aged Legend Roe is kind of making bank right now. No other investments, animal or otherwise is making remotely even close to it... and it's just the effort of a single Legend, we will take it though because our productivity is much lower than previous "Perfectionist" saves. Sometimes I get a few dozens roe all at once, and that turns into a handsome 100K+ profit...

New year, new farm. This time I'm trying a challenge wherein whenever I get a dialogue choice, I have to pick the one that costs friendship, or, failing that, one I have never picked before. Sp far I've disappointed Lewis by just being in it for the prizes, and annoyed Alex by yelling at him when he sassed me about not looking like I'd want to play catch. It's honestly kind of fun!

So it's a point of shame as a fisherman but I just found out you can switch the bobber style only now, and guess which one I got :boot:
So that was pretty cool, a detail of customization I didn't know I wanted but now I do hahaha

I've just realized that although I'm married to Shane, I've never actually triggered that heart event to unlock Blue Chicken lol, so I gave up and used good ol' wiki and all stars need to align for me to see that scene again now that I'm married to him (ahem, one specific hour on one particular day of the week... tight window). I can't say I've gotten to it yet; it just haven't worked out so far, but I will get this blue chicken.
