1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

Went to tackle a couple of the missing Extended Family fish in my collection - them now being pondable has solved getting the remaining normal quality ones, I was only missing 3 silver. Got a bubble spot in exactly the right place to get a silver quality Son of Crimsonfish! Then went for Glacierfish Jr, no bubbles so I just cast as close as possible... and got 14 gold quality in a row. Well at least I won't be short of bait for another go. 😆

I've also swapped out the Extended Family fish ponds for the original Legendaries since they're been pretty generous with roe and I've got a decent stock in my 'Rare Foods' collection. They're a bit slower so far, but I have time. I have to say I'm not fond of the Anglerfish pond colour, it's a bit of an iffy yellow. Ms Angler's is a nice pink.

Trixie had to put Elliot in his place today:

Elliot - Be careful out there! I do worry about you sometimes. There are people in the world who would take advantage of you.

Trixie - Dude? A word?
First, I am never without two swords, an axe and a pickax.

Second, I gave birth to your stepson at the bottom of the local mines and to your daughter in the Caldera of the Ginger Island Volcano.

Third, the last Joja adjacent sleazebag who tried to swindle me is walled up in a cave.

Fourth, those pirates you've heard rumors of? I party with them on the regular.

So please stop imagining me as the Lady of some Italian sonnet. There's a reason I donated all your Petrarch to Gunther, and if you don't watch it, Marcello gets the Shakespeare!

Elliott: The Ginger Island volcano?!?! So that's why Elizabeth Barrett came by parrot rather than the more customary stork!

Trixie had to put Elliot in his place today:
Does Trixie's eloquence comes from her union with Elliot or are eloquent folks naturally drawn to Elliot?! I can't imagine my farmer counter with anything more than a few jumbled up words to such disrespect! Trixie got two swords and piercing words!

On topic for this thread: I just got done with decorating my farm today... it felt bitter sweet. I kinda like the decorations, I don't have to strategize my day to figure out the optimal ways to get perfection in the shortest time; it's just... me with my thoughts and taking things at my own pace even if it was inefficient. The creative side of me crave more, but alas it will come to an end. I have thought about decorating beyond the confines of my farm, but it doesn't feel right to deface the community even if I deem it my best works... someone will always look upon it with major disapproval I guess (looking at you George).

Now the farmers could take things a bit slower going forward... just want to fish up 3 trouts and call it a day? A-ok. Want to just go to the mines, and then never minding out of there with no loots? A-ok. Boot up Junimo Cart and barely hit 10K? Why not. Maybe stare at the Sewing Machine for hours indecisive about what to wear... it truly felt like I've escaped the city life outside of the city life.. on the farm.

Bad news first. I don't think I can get a Qi Fruit. I tried selling Pierre over 100 of them on Fall 28, but when I went back the next day he wasn't selling any. So I guess I can cross it off the list of potentially obtainable items. No biggee.

The good news is that I got all 3 "random cosmetic drop" shirts. I'm pretty glad that grind is over. I didn't much enjoy resetting the day over and over..

O, mb - just saw a footnote on Wiki saying this has been patched 1.6+, Pierre no longer hooking us up with that good good. In fact, mine are also gone too because I went ahead and try to get some giant Qi Fruit crops (a better exchange imo).

Presents Train.jpg

Finally got a presents train. Got some mystery boxes from it and all.

Strange thing and this may be important to whoever has working knowledge on how to update the predictor: It says this "Note that a train will not spawn on the first day after a save is loaded or reloaded."

Both this train and the one below came not only on days that were not predicted, but the presents train came on a day that was in fact the first day after I reloaded my save.

Ah, Paddy. The save file came back from the Cloud after I thought I deleted it. So I've been playing him and he had a very good time in the Volcano. He got an Ostrich Egg and a dragon tooth cutlass, and he opened up the Caldera. He is now also the proud owner of an iridium scythe, and he's gonna go into ancient fruit, because the worst part of tgat biz was always the harvesting.

I had the heady but all too brief experience of +3.5 speed on day 3 of the Desert Festival.

+1 from crab cakes, +1 from triple shot espresso, +0.5 from the Statue of Blessings, and then picked up +1 speed boost buff from a calico statue while in the Skull Cave.

It was glorious. I was outrunning Serpents.

Is there a cap on speed? I think it might be possible to get +4.5 if you get the desert chef to make you a meal with hot sauce, it adds another +1 and chef meals do stack on top of regular food buffs. You'd still need the right blessing and statue buffs. I might attempt this next festival.

So I found out that nothing stops villagers from repeating days as vendors at the desert festival; Harvey did two days in a row. I ended up bailing early on the third day of the festival because there wasn't really much for sale that I wanted. Oh, well.

It turns out that pre-growing the leeks for Evelyn's quest works extremely well. I just left them in the ground until the quest came up, accepted it and was immediately able to harvest 11 out of 12. A little foraging and the quest was done in two days.

The raccoons are ADORABLE.

OK Emily wins. Emily always wins but then Bobbi always wins too because she's married to Emily, but we're wandering off topic.

They had a chat in the morning which is Bobbi's weakness as Bobbibrain usually doesn't turn on fully until about 9:30 or so. PM. Emily's such a cheater taking advantage of lesser able persons like that. Anyway Emily wins because she knows when to ask oh so sweetly for things so Bobbi bought her the heater for her Clothing Shop. Not remembering that Bobbi said she'd buy Pam one first, but also not remembering this in time to say anything, as that would have been a bad thing. Sometimes not remembering saves your butt.

"Ooo it's so nice and toasty in here but maybe we could just have used the fireplace instead of adding a heater in here." It is good there is no Bobbi portrait because it would not be overly flattering, as she now notices with quite the annoyed look that there indeed was always a fireplace and now that she thinks about it, it was never particularly cold in the shop. Some Farmers let things fade into the background when they finally are able to focus on something for a short while after many days of procrastination. Bobbi sighs.

"Um, so dear, I notice the Spirit's Eve costumes are still out," Emily continues, again discerning things that Bobbi was just about to get to. Or probably notice. Real soon. "While I love the choices and we did a good business this year, maybe it's time for some warmer styles?" Bobbi agrees, still catching up. She'd been thinking of what to feature as she'd spent some time coming up with a warm early Winter style for herself, starting with her prized Tiger Hat.

So she spent the day taking down the costumes, most of which would be re-used next year, and finally committed to building the stockroom behind the fish tank, full of 4 big chests, one per season's outfits. Fall's costumes still left a lot of space for more next year which was a relief. This might be a good plan.

The following day wanting to bounce some ideas off Emily, Bobbi couldn't find her in the house. This was a typical occurrence as Emily was a master hide 'n seeker but in a twist of serendipitous fate, Bobbi remembered something. From earlier that day. Emily was gonna help at the Saloon after stuffing the kids fulla food and then their beds fulla kids.

Y5W5 Saloon.jpg

It was fun to see everyone not on a special occasion and Bobbi chatted her way around even though she wasn't the best at it. I really should do this more often, she thinks. But of course this was an excessive use of brain so fashion questions would need to wait until morning. Afternoon. Maybe evening, we'll see.

The next day after no questions happened, Emily wordlessly grabbed a liberal amount of her wife, enough to take control of the positioning and locomotion systems and with barely a minimum of shoving and the occasional love pinch, positioned Bobbi in a comfy chair in the reading nook and asked what she wanted to discuss.
Y5W6Chat2.jpg

"What?" Bobbi protests during this highly irregular yet quite enjoyable womanhandling. "Unhand me madam, I am a free being!" All the while Emily's lips are pursed in an attempt to suppress the giggles. That is not one of Emily's strengths and predictably she fails but no matter, eventually the squirming capybara was wrestled into its makeshift cage.

"You wanted to say something last night. At the Saloon. Or ask me something?" A completely blank look from Bobbi, facing up at her wife. Emily is quite familiar with this. The brain hidden beneath perhaps only a slightly thicker than average skull would, with difficulty, wade through the peanut butter of her memory and eventually make it to the other side.

"Oh!" Bobbi exclaims brightly, eyes now open wide and straightening up as much her frame allows. "Yes! I'm starting with warm hats and then I'll work my way down with coats and shirts and blouses from Sandy and then pants and dresses." Words tumble out as if Bobbi is trying to free them before they decide it's too cold out and hibernation is the proper choice. "I got so many of them this year and they're always an afterthought, so this year they're the stars of the collection!" A pause. "And they keep the snow off your face." An exaggerated Bobbi wink. "Functional."

"That's a great idea, let's get started!" Emily enthuses. "But next time will you remember to take the Bus?" Bobbi's brow furrows trying to parse this request and her mouth opens slowly to respond. Too slowly, as Emily clarifies before Bobbi makes a sound, "so I can come too and see Sandy! And I'm not taking any of those magic zappo things the Wizard loves to overcharge you for, I remember what happened last year!"

Bobbi and Emily discuss options but as it's already pretty late, they only knock out a few ideas. Everything needs to start somewhere though and things are coming along, hopefully the burgeoning Winter section can open in another day or two.
