1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

My shed is now completely filled with kegs! It's a good thing, too, because the fruit trees in the greenhouse are CONSTANTLY putting out now. Did the egg festival, lost to Abigail, and passed out while working in the gardens. Linus retrieved me, apparently. Wish the game wouldn't penalize players for passing out on their own property!

I'm currently pondering my farm layout to see if I can fit one of each giant crop in somewhere. Anyone else think the giant melon looks like a pink moon with those craters?

Also since my completionist plan involves marrying everyone to get all the portraits, *and* since we now have mannequins, one of my sheds is currently being converted into a bridal boutique.

Trixie of Imperia Farm (1.5) found her first Prizzy in the skull mines, got the galaxy sword, got the boat up and running, freed Dr. Snail, gave him a frog and two feet. and opened up the forge. She hasn't decided what to do with the Prizzy from the forge chest yet but Gunther is last in line. Movie theater or weapon enchantment? She hates Seb but won't kick him out because she'd miss the frogs.

This first part was yesterday, but it's worth mentioning: I gave a try to catching an Octopus for the Master Fisher's bundle, but gave it up when I saw I had no chance. I would simply go for Lava Eel and Blobfish instead.
Guess what I found in the next trash can I checked? Yep, an octopod.

Today, completed the rest of the CC apart from one iridium ore and a jack-o-lantern (Spirit's Eve is coming up in a few days).

Cleared my farm of everything except grass, which I will allow to spread until the last day of fall. I don't have any animals yet, apart from Toby the beagle and Roach the horse, but I have completed the Chef's bundle thanks to the traveling cart offering 5 truffles, the only animal product I needed for the CC, one day.

Reached 10 hearts with Maru, Demetrius, and Robin. I liked all of Maru's heart events, especially the 10 one.

Got my house upgraded to level 3, which, according to the wiki, means I will now get the best-quality supply crates.

I've found 4 ancient seeds so far, all of them from bugs. One bug even dropped two.

Cranberries are raking in some serious money. The sprinkler area is all cranberries apart from 8 corn and 3 pumpkins, but a lightning strike has killed one of the cranberry bushes despite my having like 15 lightning rods. Need to craft more...

I moved my crab pots from the mountain to my farm. I have enough snails for now, and it's a lot more convenient to have the pots nearby.

I had a recycling machine, the Field Research bundle reward, near the mines entrance, but when fall arrived, it was destroyed because Sebastian walked through it. Grr.
I now have five machines next to the crab pots. They are my only means of acquiring cloth, at least for now, which I'll need for a mill. Missing one or two at the moment.

I won first prize at the fair, by scraping together the best items I had around.

I planted a Rare Seed on Fall 1, but I'm not sure if I remembered to water my few sprinkler-less plants that day... I hope I did.

The visuals are different because I've installed the mod "daisyNiko's Earthy Recolour". It's fantastic!

Played Journey of the Prairie King again to see if I still got it. Beat the 1st journey with 10 lives remaining. Ha! ::Mr. Universe flex::

Buuuut ::muscles deflate::, I got game overs in world 3 and 2 respectively before the 3rd try.
It really does matter on how stingy the game gets with the coins for better guns and ammo, doesn't it?

Turned out the text on the seed is misleading: the fruit was ready before the last day of fall.

I had Robin build me a coop and a barn, plus upgrade the coop so I could hatch my dino egg I found in a random artifact spot. It will hatch any day now.
I plan to only buy cows, chickens, ducks, and possibly goats. Pigs are too high-maintenance, and worthless in winter. I don't need wool for anything, at least at the moment, so I don't see any reason to have sheep and/or rabbits consume grass and hay. Rabbit's foot is a great item, but I don't want to have rabbits just for a chance of them dropping feet.
I planned the coop's placement so that one of the small ponds is right in front of it, because ducks deserve to swim.

My sprinkler field now has 7 rarecrows guarding it. I have yet to find the eighth one.

The fish pond I emptied of sturgeons, and put in a Lava Eel (which was even more annoying to catch than the one I got for the CC) instead. It requested fire quartz, and I found one in the same trash can that gave me the octopus earlier. It's a lucky trash can.

This happened at one point:

Amazing item, totally worth showing.

Fall 15. Unlocked the casino today and learned quickly why I should never step foot in a real casino. I did eventually get enough Qi coins for the last rarecrow, but it took much longer than it would have if I didn't head to the slots and blackjack table every 1000 coins.

I dunno about Calicojack but here's what works every time on the Slots:

Go on a High Luck day
Take Luck Buff foods and drink and continue to use them as they wear off
Buy 100 Qi coines
Bet 10 until you Hit a few times and make it up to around ~600-1000
Bet 100 until you get to your desired level to buy your thing
If you're intent on continuing, make sure you have ~1000 left over to start again before buying your thing

Works every time for me and the kid.

And I'll add onto Lew's tips with info on Calico Jack, courtesy of the wiki page. Unfortunately, luck boosts do not affect the table game. And, interestingly enough, what total number you have in your hand and what number the dealer shows affect the odds of what card you (or the dealer) draw next. One confusing example, staying on 18 or higher will create a more likely scenario of the dealer going over 21 UNLESS the dealer shows 9, then you want at least 19 or higher lest ye have a bad time...........what fun!

Yes it's quite the mess, more it's own thing than true blackjack

Hands stay consistent through resets so you can basically map out winning threads of hands to make absolute piles of qi coins (or use a predictor)

Did some stuff on Ginger Island, but didn't unlock the farmhouse yet.

Spent two or three hours on Junimo Kart, but achieved nothing of note.

Continued looking for purple mushrooms because the raccoon wants dried ones. Of course, I kept finding and getting mushrooms of different qualities... I currently have 4 regular, 4 silver, and 3 gold ones. Which I'm sure means the next one I get is a gold one and I still won't be able to dehydrate any. :hmph:

Set up this display, but somebody didn't appreciate it.

Found a strange request from Marnie... and ignored it, because giving fish to cows sounds like a horrible idea.

One thing I've learned about gambling in games is that I'll never be tempted to gamble IRL. (Unless I can manipulate my luck and save between gambling rounds the way I do in GTA San Andreas.. :P)

what do you mean? when I go to the casino irl I bring some magic rock candy and ginger ale to pump that luck up
I've never made it into the casino of Stardew Valley. I'm stuck on the intro part of Ginger Island because I almost never go there. I was talking about gambling in Pokemon, GTA San Andreas, and Red Dead Redemption II.

Ah then you may not understand the context, the slots in the stardew casino are very heavily luck based so I was just making a joke about bringing some luck buffs in real life.

And holy carp the Level 4 Parrott. I'm just noodling around the ice floors on the regular mines with monster musk active, when it triggers it's been 250/500/750/1000g dropping, possibly 1250g but I'm taking out bunches out Dust Sprites so I'm often getting more than one drop add up at once. I don't even need the money, I'm just enjoying coins and coffee flying everywhere. 😆

I'm not sure if you're already aware, but the racoon will accept other types of the item he requested. So if you have better access to a different type of mushroom you could dry and submit those and he'll be fine with it.

...*quietly puts Bug Killer sword away*... *innocent whistling*...
!

My lovey-dovey very pleasant-to-wield Insect Head needs to be hammered together with this trashy Infinity Blade and then given the Bug Killer enchant. Why did I not think of this?? I shall enter Mine Levels 11-29 and the Mutant Bug Lair like some overbearing locust from a Pixar movie, ready to lay waste to those leetle ants. That usually ends up pretty well for the locust, right?
