Trinket question!

I just got my first trinket in the skull caverns, and I got a green frog egg, will he disappear at some point even if I have him on all the time or will it stay around until I remove the trinket?

He's so cute too :D I don't wanna lose him.

Also, do they give you any benefits?

And i just got another one, literally just now on my farm, there was a truffle crab, and it dropped a golden spur :D why am I suddenly getting these, i've been in the mines a million times since 1.6 came out and i've never gotten them :P

You start getting them only after you unlock combat mastery. The summoned frog will stay as long as the trinket is equipped, and yes, they do give benefits.
Each trinket type does something unique in combat, that benefits you in some way, for example, the frog can eat enemies.
