Trinket question!

I just got my first trinket in the skull caverns, and I got a green frog egg, will he disappear at some point even if I have him on all the time or will it stay around until I remove the trinket?

He's so cute too :D I don't wanna lose him.

Also, do they give you any benefits?

You start getting them only after you unlock combat mastery. The summoned frog will stay as long as the trinket is equipped, and yes, they do give benefits.
Each trinket type does something unique in combat, that benefits you in some way, for example, the frog can eat enemies.
A list of trinkets can be found here:

Be careful as they will attack all hostile enemies, including your slimes in the hutches so unequip them before going in. Also, the
Forg eats a single enemy whole so you don't get any drop from it (like Dragon Teeth, Star Shards, etc.) so some are much better than others for certain situations. As I'm only fighting monsters for their drops, I don't like anything that might kill at a distance (leaving the drops maybe out of reach) like the
Magic Arrow thingy, or the Forg which eats the Badthing whole.

So yeah I go kinda simple and brainless like myself:
Fairy Box. Heals you and does nothing against monsters. Honorable mention to the
Basilisk Paw which makes you immune to debuffs, which is very nice in the Volcano.

But.

As always there is more unobtanium. So much more. I need the Trinket which you can't find, you have to buy. When someone decides to open a stall at the Desert Festival. Which won't happen for YEARS in my current save.

YEARS!!!!

I am not happy and my hair weeps.

Sometimes I like the Ice Wand, because it freezes enemies which give me time to avoid them, or fight them at my own speed. Sometimes I like the magic arrows. Sometimes I like the fairy box... it depends on my mood, or really, which trinket I get first, I think.

The fun thing about the frog eggs is that you can put them in an aquarium and then you can watch them being cute all you want!

It's a randomized* event:

2 stalls and 3 days for the Desert Festival.
27 total people who are available to open a stall.

So 6 stall openings per year for an average of 4.5 years between appearances. I remember Alex being there in an early year like 2 or 3 and I didn't know yet what I was missing as I like to avoid spoilers for new stuff and just get them as they happen.

Yeah.

Shoulda bent that rule this time.

* OK okok it's set by your seed and I just checked Mouseypounds' Stardew Predictor again and I recently started Year 6. Alex was there in Year 3 and will next be there in Year 9

*Sigh*
