Interior [SPOILERS]Retro themes showcase

As a (reluctantly) iPad-only player, I’m stuck on vanilla since The App Store doesn’t support mods. This has led me to press seasonal and outdoor decor items into service for more variety, and I’ve found just 1 layout that really works for me given the extremely limited size options of rugs and such. With 1.6’s new items I still haven’t found a way to shift layout, but was glad to have more themes available.

Screenshots on my version are fixed-size so the resolution varies by region size: the bigger the area, the worse the quality. That and wanting to theme my outfit per room and time-of-day is why I’m posting system screenshots rather than game-function ones.

This thread is dedicated to the new Retro catalogue. I’ve made 2 Summer themes: pueblo desert and “bungalow” (not quite full Ginger Island jungle, more like a hipster take on beach lifestyle); and, finally, Fall (I don’t think Retro lends itself well to Winter).

This first post only includes pueblo desert’s day set due to per-post attachment limits: to see the rest, please scroll down to my reply posts in this thread exhibiting the others.

Here’s the 2nd Retro catalogue showcase theme for Summer I’m calling “bungalow”, which is still distinct from full-on Ginger Island, its own theme despite quite a bit of cross-over items with bungalow. I’ll enhance both this and the Ginger Island themes with special Prize Ticket plants as I acquire them.

This is the day set; the night set must go into a separate reply to this thread due to attachment count limits. Please continue scrolling to see that and the Fall theme.

Is this all the same save? How many time does it take you to redecorate?
Yes, this is all from the same savefile, however I manage the gamefiles myself to replay given days if time runs out for my “photoshoot” days (aquarium photos are particularly elusive). Due to the limitations of the interface (especially the touch port), decor often demands nearly half my season unless I already know exactly what I want to do, which is rare since the whole point for me is experimentation and variety, though occasionally I’ll run through to a final and then reload my save from the start of the season _just_ to finish it sooner. With my playstyle this is rarely necessary though since I have plenty of money from artisan goods and only need to work the fields a few times per season.

Loooove it. So much going on. Taking notes cause my rooms are always a little empty.
What do you think about using grass staters as indoor deco?

Nothing’s wrong with grass starters indoors, I just feel for my own home decor they’re a bit too unstructured-feeling, however I use them in some of my themed sheds, for example. I could see myself using them in, say, a Junimo themed Great Room (what I call the nursery room upstairs), come to think of it🤔 I have used _pathing_ in some designs, for example for Winter to give an “outdoors brought-in” feel (I may post that at some point in its own thread—I have so many themes, this thread is just the 1st time I’ve undertaken the massive amount of effort required to fully assemble everything into 1 consistent place with the full compliment of screenshots😅).

Yeah I did think they wouldn't work in most cases here, just wanted to get your opinion. I always use them in junimo themed rooms, mixed with blue grass starters they look great. Also instead of house plants sometimes.

Actually never managed to use pathing indoors in a way that looks good. Would be great to see your other designs if you do decide to post them!

I like the walk-in closet and all the plants, plus the themed dishes in the kitchen.
I love home feeling like a place to relax and recharge in nature’s embrace  Lots of plants help that along well, though finding a pleasing balance across the elements without conspicuous repeats is usually quite a challenge being stuck on vanilla!

Though I do select for aesthetics with the kitchen display, it’s always from among options germane to the season/theme, and I try to ensure it’s a full spectrum of breakfast, lunch, dinner, beverage, and dessert :owo:

If I were a skilled enough player and there was enough room for the chests to hold all those outfits in the bedroom without robbing it of its aesthetic (there isn’t, IMO), I’d convert the walk-in into an arcade den after beating the bar’s minigames, I saw a screenshot of this one time with popcorn, rock candy, movie posters on the walls, it was fantastic and I want my own take on it, but I doubt I’ll ever, _ever_ finish those dastardly minigames, especially on touch  As it is, beyond the walk-in’s mannequins, there’s 6 large chests stuffed to the gills, only 4 of which you can see :flushed:

I do like the walk-in’s speed, because it’s way less hassle than finagling each item separately off me into empty backpack slots, hauling their replacements out of the right chest, etc., to get changed, plus helps remind me of outfits I might otherwise forget I have :flushed:

Yea I also love filling my house with plants, though I don't like the look of most decorative ones, so alternatives like garden pots and grass are great. Also stuff like wall decals.
I have played with mods but never with furniture ones. So far I'm content with what vanilla offers, since I'm not a huge decorator, especially outdoors, but I do like having a decorated house. Still learning.

Arcade games are sooo relatable. I don't know how much what you're playing on matters, I've only ever played on mobile, but I'm surely not beating them anytime soon. Junimo Kart maybe in the future, but even Abby is probably a better JOTPK player than me.
The room idea sounds awesome. Also reminded me that I gotta do something with the movie posters instead of just hanging them in a row on a wall as I get them...

Same: you’ll notice I mostly stick to just a handful. It’s not that the rest are necessarily _terrible_ or anything, just not…great, and kind of distracting, to me, I guess, a lot of them :hmm: Some are useful in exactly the right context, like the Corn Plant and the sort-of tufted-top, tall green sprout I use in Spring, but I generally keep things on a tight leash :proud:
