I don't play myself, but my human has it, fairly heavily modded (im not sure which) but in his last save he started a clone army, he had embryos in growth vats, but then one of them was born a twin...of 78 freakin babies...it only stopped ejecting infants when one was stillborn... we had to ship off babies to his allies just to stop them from dying in their own vomit, we genetically modified them to be ugly so no one would cars if they died... we butchered and ate those babies so at least the cannibals would be happy, we had not the growth vats, power, food, or man power to handle that many tiny needy vomit machines.. plus the other embryos in the other growth vats are in danger of spirting 20 at once too, no one is safe, the freakin ghost babies are going to haunt me forever...that save is poisoned by cold, dead, sticky baby hands... only like, 20 of them survived to childhood....2024 is an amazing year for indie games! Today is obviously the much-anticipated release date for the 1.6 update in Stardew Valley and I'm so excited to pick the game up this weekend, but is anyone else here absolutely hyped for the upcoming giant 1.5 update to Rimworld coming out next month?!
If you play it, have you checked out the 18-page changelog (found here) and are you as excited as I am about crawling downed pawns and the obsolesence of several mods thanks to base game changes?
What are your thoughts on the new DLC, Anomaly, coming out alongside the update?
Do you play with any or all of the already available DLC?
What is your favorite Geneva Convention violation to commit in the game?
That storyteller effed you HARD, my god! I feel like the two things you NEED in a man in black are medical and at least the ability to do violence, otherwise what's the point of a "savior"? RIP besieged base thoughWhich mods have been incorporated into the game?
One colony got wiped out by a siege. Our largely wooden base got incinerated by artillery. Our best fighter took a direct hit and died. Soon after the rest was unable to move with nobody able to rescue them. The siege lasted long enough for a man in black to wander in. Who was incapable of violence...
The possibilities really are endless... and horrific haha. Cannibalism almost feels like a hack in the game sometimes; so long as the raids and travelers keep coming your pawns can eat and clothe themselves with the skin of their victims into infinity--at least until the game decides to send back-to-back-to-back mech clusters and infestations, but that's how you know you've made it on the Rim I suppose.I don't play myself, but my human has it, fairly heavily modded (im not sure which) but in his last save he started a clone army, he had embryos in growth vats, but then one of them was born a twin...of 78 freakin babies...it only stopped ejecting infants when one was stillborn... we had to ship off babies to his allies just to stop them from dying in their own vomit, we genetically modified them to be ugly so no one would cars if they died... we butchered and ate those babies so at least the cannibals would be happy, we had not the growth vats, power, food, or man power to handle that many tiny needy vomit machines.. plus the other embryos in the other growth vats are in danger of spirting 20 at once too, no one is safe, the freakin ghost babies are going to haunt me forever...that save is poisoned by cold, dead, sticky baby hands... only like, 20 of them survived to childhood....
So yeah, pretty cool game
True, she boned us pretty badly there, and I liked that colony. But lesson learned, wooden houses don't mesh well with fire artillery from sieges. Another colony basically died to heat strokes from a siege, because I wasn't able to remove roof to save people before going down. It was awful. Almost anything can kill you on the RimThat storyteller effed you HARD, my god! They've incorporated a LOT into vanilla, thankfully. I know for sure wall lights, couches, and books have all been added. They also added crawling mechanics so your suffering pawns can attempt to crawl to safety during firefights which allows you to keep all your fighters fighting and your doctors don't have to wander into the line of fire to rescue people; it's quite fun to trace the blood trails too, they tell one heck of a story! If you couldn't mod Rimworld I really doubt we'd have so many hours in it; the concept is great, it's super deep even in vanilla, but ugh, the virgin UI
I can't imagine playing Rimworld on console. It just seems like there's too much to do in any run to do it all on a controller, imo, but maybe a steam controller could bridge that gap. I also haven't touched a console since the PS4 so maybe it wouldn't be as brutal as I'm envisioning with whatever new doodads the PS5 controllers have haha.
It drives me completely batty when patients get out of the bed for any reason. I've had too many childbirths cancelled 'cause mom wants to drink some chemshine. One thing that always drove me mad, however, was how patients would start to crawl our of the hospital to do recreation or pick up a meal. Often before we had time to give life saving operations after nasty raids. Nothing I tried could fix it, so always had to watch the hospital like a hawk. Don't think any of the mods I had caused it either, cause I tried loading without mods, and it still reproduced. Anyway, I hope that annoyance has somehow been amended now. Was infuriating to see patients try to kill themselves like that with alarming frequency.
Hay gurrlllll, long time no talk!It drives me completely batty when patients get out of the bed for any reason. I've had too many childbirths cancelled 'cause mom wants to drink some chemshine.I've not experienced a crawler leaving the medbay so hopefully that's been patched somewhere, but that would enrage me haha "YOU'RE INCAPACITATED!! ACT LIKE IT!" It must be frustrating to be a God if Rimworld is any indication; free will is overrated. Lol
HAAAAY!! Hope you've been well! <3Hay gurrlllll, long time no talk!
Do you manually set your people's behaviors? Like, drug addiction behavior?
It can be quite the storytelling device
Wh...you know what? Nevermind. Rimworld. The stories that the game tells are absolutely hilarious at times. And Randy is an absolute menace.HAAAAY!! Hope you've been well! <3
I set their drug use and whatnots in one of the tabs, I can't remember off the top of my head which one, but it's where you control their clothing and how much medicine they carry--I don't think there's ever been a pregnant person whose drug habits have been altered after conception so that would probably be the easiest solution to that particular problem, haha. Do you use any mods to change their behaviors further or are there any tips you'd recommend that would improve my experience controlling these little 2D psychopaths?
Side note: My husband and I have officially created our most successful colony to-date! Year 9, $850,000+ wealth, NO CHEATING EVEN ONCE, with Randy Random. A colonist is ascending her way through the nobility ranks and is currently an archcount, most wealth is derived from a massive chemshine operation (and also via human leather because the faith dictates that enemy combatants are sustenance), there are 15 colonists, three of whom were born from love found in a hopeless place (there would have been five but one stillbirth occurred and that same colonist miscarried after a social fight, but it's okay because her daughter who is very much still alive is one of the most skilled among them and has now found a husband), and one colonist is the widow of the singular colonist who started it all, naked, afraid, and missing his eyes--he lived almost a full year by himself and built a rudimentary dwelling complete with a simple freezer (yes, he botched a LOT of things due to having no eyes), before succumbing to an infection following a raid. A few months later, two people wandered in to give him a proper burial and pick up where he left off--his wife joined a few years later as a wanderer, had a mental break, ran wild, died to a woodland critter, and was resurrected with an eltex staff but she was suffering from dementia and also MISSING HER EYES like her late husband (whose body was the victim of two corpse obsessions and desicated to nothing shortly after the second exhumation; Christ figure? YES) which were then cured with bionic eyes and mech serums to restore her brain to working order--she's only like 34, c'mon. It's been a wild ride and there have been I think seven souls lost along the way but dang, it's satisfying to look at the base and the graphs and be like, "I did that," while knowing you didn't abuse dev mode to get there.
