Happy pics

Wow, that's a pretty cool happy accident pic. I hope someone didn't lose them and they're only there because the 110m hurdles were set just a weensy beet too high!

Bit of a redux pic, from same location as before but a younger moon. Phone camera blows it out a bit as when you see it with naked eye, you're presented with a faint, shimmering eyelash of a crescent. I've recently gotten my Haley camera up and running again, perhaps I will stalk a very young moon for all to see next month.

On the typical walk home, I encountered another of these:

Which boded well (?) for the future. Hmmm, need to put this to the test. What shall we see on this trip under the freeway and through the Volkswagen dealership?

First to be spied was a tortoise entrapenated in some sort of an upside down popup playpen. Clearly this was to protect the various feral children in the neighborhood from this viscous, bloodthirsty toe-nibbler. No pictures of this dangerous beastie as the threat was too grave. Also poorly backlit.

Next up were these hooligans again, hustling the locals out of their catfood and birdseed and frankly completely every bit of food that anyone leaves outside. Fancy hoovers, every one.

Not sure that we'd yet broken even, the trip continued and while no minichickies were spotted (haven't seen in many months, though I've heard the miniroosters on occasion), 3 cats were caught napping out in the open, to their embarrassment. Not wanting to make things worse, I held off with the phonecam. Also too much sweat on the lens, what's the IP68 water resistance equivalent for perspiration?

That's definitely ending on a plus, so overall, good talisman!

This took a lot of efforts, feel like taking a nap now. First had to send the image to myself because writing on a phone is brutal. Then save the image to harddisk, then attach it here. Wild! 😂

Perhaps this is the equivalent in bird-speak for "I'm hungry enough to eat a horse"?

Been having a slightly less-good day today so when upon entering a building I found my hair being colonized by a member of the local fauna, I wondering if perhaps that was a sign to pack it in. Instead I swiftly removed said freeloader who fluttered to the ground in a manner far more graceful than you'll ever see me do.

Mmm sizeable! Worth fricasseeing?? Nah, I don't go any higher on the food chain than locusts. Not wanting her to get stepped on, I escorted her outside again:

I mentioned elsewhere recently that as a young someone not responsible enough for real pets, I instead collected insect pets as some are acquirable by a kid with... hats. To catch them with. I used hats.

You use the tools ya got.

Anyway I apparently didn't live anywhere cool enough to have praying mantises just laying about and had to deal with tomato hornworms and Cecropia moth caterpillars (!!!) and Mourning Cloaks and Great Spangled Fritillaries. I didn't even know something so cool as mantisen were a thing. So I just love seeing them around, especially the li'l green bebezzz! They always make a day better and so did this one.

Found this little guy hanging out on top of my laundry pile today. Quite surprised me, so the natural thing to do was put him in a nearby empty critter cage that I just happened to have. The toilet roll went in later, and he immediately crawled inside of it. Happy spider <3

Chiara is a sweetheart but a little of a spoiled princess. Right now she is outside playing, running with her toy on her mouth and trying to bark...with her mouth full, of course, so it is this muffled "ruff ruff" bork. I tried to take a picture to share but it was too blurry :defeated:
