Walleye Help

I can’t catch the stupid walleye and haven’t found it at the traveling merchant. Any tips? I’ve used up all of my fish o’ the sea already to no avail. I wish I could hire Willy to catch it.

Yeah, I’m fishing when it’s raining in summer. Maybe the wrong place? I’ve tried the mountain lake, river and the pond by Marnie’s. I fish til I pass out. Harvey must think I have some kind of weird obsession, landing in his hospital with my fishing gear.

That's your problem. The walleye can be caught in fall and winter only...

Rainy fall night. FWIW, other than night and being fall-specific, it's very like shad in its choice of habitats.

I appreciate everyone’s help. I got it at the mountain lake right after Penny’s 10 heart event. I guess it was my lucky night. Umm, maybe that’s poor choice of words.

That's funny--I'd never read the Wiki's entry on it, just gone with the Community Center's categorization of it as a night fish for the night fishing bundle!

You can only catch walleye during the Fall and Winter when it's raining, between noon and 2AM. You'll need a rain totem during the winter. I caught mine in the Mountain Lake, standing directly across from the Mine entrance. And I feel your pain; I think I was into Year 10 before I finally got it. Do you have an iridium rod and tackle and bait? It helps.

Yeah, I definitely needed the iridium rod. I caught it the same exact place you did! It was so frustrating because it was the last item I needed to repair the community center.

Wall baskets are a new thing in 1.5, however I don't think you can catch the walleye there. You may need to head out to the river to find one.

Yeah, you may be misremembering, because walleye has never been in that pond. Try the river in the town or forest, in fall/winter rain after noon.

Nope, not misrembering. I know that it has happened multiple times. I would go and get woodskip, catfish and walleye all in one fishing session. For this playthrough, I did get it from the river. Of course, after I had used the rain totem, then the caravan had walleye for sale. C'est la vie.
