Nope, not misrembering. I know that it has happened multiple times. I would go and get woodskip, catfish and walleye all in one fishing session. For this playthrough, I did get it from the river. Of course, after I had used the rain totem, then the caravan had walleye for sale. C'est la vie.

What you may be remembering is fishing the Walleye out of the pond in Cindersap, which is near the Secret Woods pond.
