Can I adopt Leo?

What do you think?

I know it sounded terrible...
I was wondering if I could adopt Leo on my farm.
My motherhood instinct triggered me. I have so much money, and I am ready to invest money for proper education and books for Leo.
I can imagine myself living a single-parent life. Plus, I have extra rooms for the parrots. – I can imagine myself having a good time with the parrots too.

If you disagree with what I said, feel free to express it.
I am happy to hear your side's perspective.
Let's have a good argument.

Leo is a free spirit and while he could benefit from structure and a more modern way of life, that doesn't necessarily mean he would have a better life because of it. I don't have a feel for how old he is, but he has quite a few years under his belt living as an individual and I feel that he and Linus could end up being buddies in Nature.

However I don't like how the parrots are used in-game so his affection for them must be extracted.

Obliviate!

Leo needs therapy and not the clothing type. He went several years without physical contact. This leads to severe mental issues including the inability to adapt to social norms. A formal adoption would be much better than sending him to live in a tree next to the guy who literally is teaching the town hates him. At The rate they are going he is gonna end up like sanichar here and lead a unhappy life

@Lew Zealand

OBJECTION!
Linus is a bad influence. I have been holding grudges for so long.
He took my money and my loots. Linus is a bad example...
Leo deserves more than that. He deserved to be taken care of by me because I think I am a better parent. –I have resources and am rich.

Also, the parrots deserve a spotlight in the game. Why? Parrots are men's best friends. Parrots are friendly and don't judge people. They did a good job taking care of him.
Having a relationship between parrots and a child is pure love.

I don't hate Linus. Leo needs to adapt the society. –just like you said.
Imagine him growing up into an adult. Do girls want to marry a Tarzan or James Bond?
Well, here's a harsh reality. All girls prefer a James Bond to a Tarzan.
Can I get "amen" on that?

I have a second thought about that. I think it's a good point too.
I think being "free-spirited" is a rare quality we cannot find easily among children.
In another word, I did sense that Leo seems to be very mature and well-developed comparing to other children at SV.

((I have to be fair with your perspective despite I want to adopt Leo. LoL))

I was actually really happy that Leo's development specifically didn't end up as "and now you get adopted" :P

I was thinking, "please don't end up being someone you can 'save'". But it wasn't, Willy is more the one that goes out of his way and Linus is the one that really makes the important connection. Huzzah! He has a family, who support his decision and build him a badass treehouse, and he still spends time on the island. In the current version, it feels more like he's going to be both, and will grow up to be a well-adjusted freak with people on the edges of society looking out for him while he goes back and forth between it and the island...

I wouldn't really want the version of the story where he has to come live with the farmer to be properly "civilized" and forced to live exactly as everyone else does in podunk Pelican Town or something. It would just feel icky, to me.

I like the idea of having a better school, maybe as additional building or - what I like more - as part of the Community Center. For both ways it could be another Community Upgrade.
edit/ps.: alternatively an upgrade for the museum with an extra room or an upper floor would be nice as well.

I'd like to see more different ways to help rather than just giving one way for NPCs to develop. Similar to the paths for bachelor(ette)s maybe one of the kids could become a godchild for the player. Also there could be some tasks to help Penny with schooling like finding something special or buying a tank in the school and fill it with some special fishes.

Well, I cannot deny that some people who grew up in the wild did not end up with a happy ending. Their life span living in a civilized world did not last long. I could imagine that living in a civilized can be cruel and highly stressful. Fortunately, in Leo's case, he can choose both, as you said –he can stay in touch with nature and the civilized world. I guess it is a blessing to be on both sides without having a dilemma.

I don't want him to be like everyone else does either. You are correct about that.
I thought that giving him additional education and visit a Calco Desert would give him another perspective about the world.
This child is so precious, and I feel he would make an outstanding contribution to nature and Stardew Valley.

Yes, I had another thought to create a new thread. If I married Shane, I would like to have Jas live with me.
A lot of people would be sooooo upset if I made that thread.

this is exactly what i was thinking!! there's nothing wrong with his way of life, it would seem so icky to see the people on the island be viewed as less civilized/lesser and then convert them to a 'more civilized' society even though that's not true at all. jeeeze, that would be disgusting. i haven't played the new update (island story) fully but i've seen a lot of tidbits and was really hoping that wasn't going to be the case.

Everyone has different perspective, while a lot of people like Leos' story and wants it to stay the way it is. I can see how a mod could serve to change elements in the story. Such as maybe later on you could build a hut on your farm for Leo, so he could live the way he wants and able to be a part of the players family as well. It's only human nature to want to help those around us, especially if we feel we have more then we need. That is not to say all people are like that.

As for Jas, I think she is Marnie's daughter....
I think a mod that would allow Marnie to find a husband and to marry him, that would be nice. She seems so unhappy and lonely most of the time. Being a single parent is tough and it's probably taken a lot out of her. Shane may not have been as helpful as she needed in the beginning (alcohol). While I am sure later he was helpful; Marnie still may miss that connection which is found in marriage.

"civilized" and "uncivilized" are generally used to describe a persons apparent hygiene, clothing, and presumed education. As far as I am concerned, he's wearing clothes, he's not a danger to himself or others around him and he is getting enough food to eat. For all appearances Leo is happy. It would be nice to know that he's getting baths, but I guess he lives next to the spa so maybe he goes there. He gets along with more people in town than Linus and that will slowly start to help his social problems and he may even feel more comfortable in society as time progresses.
Linus needs more help than Leo does, but Linus is not a cute little kid either.... If he were, there would definitely be a fan base wanting to adopt him! 😋

Yes, I know she is Marnie's daughter.
After examining Jas' bedroom and Marnie's love life, I got concerned... I am going to talk about that in another thread.

I am under Linus' charm whenever he talks about nature, but when it comes to lying... I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
When it came to raising kids under his wings, I started getting concerned.
However, Leo seems to get along well with the other children and Lewis. II am glad that he is adjusting well with the community.
Again, we are not against Leo and Linus way of life, but moral character.
Let's accept that not everyone is perfect.

It would be cute if Jas could at least visit some of the time :) She refers to Marnie as her aunt. (Though I've wondered if there is a possibility that she and godfather Shane are not actually cousins, but that his aunt Marnie just ended up having to take care of Jas on Shane's behalf...)

I am not however talking about Linus's way of life. More to the point Linus does not get along with most of the people in the town, he ostracizes himself and that is concerning.
I know that no one is perfect, perfection is unattainable. Nor am I judging them or anyone else on it.

Anti vax should not even be in this conversation.

But Linus would be a toxic influence due to his paranoia and view of social society. As Leo has been living alone all these years it is best to slowly introduce him into society at a slow pace which he is comfortable with.
