1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

Yes, today I acquired the iridium scythe! Fall year 3. A lot of slimes and mutant bugs died for this, as I haven't been into the mines, the skull cave, the quarry mine or the volcano. :stardrop:

is it good to do the volcano or the skull cavern first?
I think most people do skull cavern first because it's unlocked first, but I usually spend more time in the volcano first. There are not a lot of good rewards from the skull cavern until you get very deep, which requires you to be very good at it, which I am not.

On the other hand, with the volcano you can take a day, some speed and maybe defense buffs, and a lot of cheese, and unlock the forge. You don't have to fight anything, just keep eating as you look for the exit to the next level. (If I run into a level with too many buttons, I give up and try another day.) With the forge unlocked, I can venture into just the lower levels until I have enough cinder shards to start forging rings. Forged rings and maybe cinderclown shoes get me to a point where I can comfortably go to the volcano for treasure chests, golden walnuts, dragon teeth, and more cinder shards to start enchanting weapons. Then, if I can get crusader on a good weapon, this becomes a good time for me to go back and tackle the skull cavern. I now have much higher defense so I'm taking less damage, and I have a weapon that kills mummies without a bomb. That all makes skull cavern easier for me.

I'm continuing a save where I'm engaging in a little bit of roleplay. My farmer is "Br Benedict" of Abbey Farm, and my idea is to play him as a monk-figure, whose farm exists not to maximize profits but to serve the community. Accordingly, I plant a variety of things, including crops I don't normally bother with. Item requests from town are prioritized, since Br Benedict is there to serve. Profits go to fruit trees, since I want this to be a lowkey save where I'm not constantly having to work. Speaking of, Br Benedict does not work on Sundays: instead, he goes to the church-thing at Pierre's and then takes walks and fishes. I'm not sure if I want to let him marry or not.....monks don't, but he's not exactly in a monastery, and Emily is also very 'spiritual' so that might be fun. As it stands I'm at the beginning of Year 2, Summer 1: I have max hearts with Evelyn, Shane, Leah, and George, 7 with Emily. Community Center is almost done, save for Walleye, Duck Feather, and Large Goat Milk. Just now building a coop so it will be a bit.

Started a fresh Beach Farm save a while ago, just need a rabbit's foot to finish the community center again in winter year 1, lucky too since I forgot to upgrade the barn first before the coop, instead doing it vice versa and forgot I needed a truffle, which I had to get from the cart. I notice just how steep the economic advantage is of starting with the Meadowlands farm is now that I'm using the beach farm. I'm finally learning how to rethink mass farming, my usual go-to strategy for making money fast.

Got a nice box car in one of the trains.
