1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

Yes, today I acquired the iridium scythe! Fall year 3. A lot of slimes and mutant bugs died for this, as I haven't been into the mines, the skull cave, the quarry mine or the volcano. :stardrop:

is it good to do the volcano or the skull cavern first?
I think most people do skull cavern first because it's unlocked first, but I usually spend more time in the volcano first. There are not a lot of good rewards from the skull cavern until you get very deep, which requires you to be very good at it, which I am not.

On the other hand, with the volcano you can take a day, some speed and maybe defense buffs, and a lot of cheese, and unlock the forge. You don't have to fight anything, just keep eating as you look for the exit to the next level. (If I run into a level with too many buttons, I give up and try another day.) With the forge unlocked, I can venture into just the lower levels until I have enough cinder shards to start forging rings. Forged rings and maybe cinderclown shoes get me to a point where I can comfortably go to the volcano for treasure chests, golden walnuts, dragon teeth, and more cinder shards to start enchanting weapons. Then, if I can get crusader on a good weapon, this becomes a good time for me to go back and tackle the skull cavern. I now have much higher defense so I'm taking less damage, and I have a weapon that kills mummies without a bomb. That all makes skull cavern easier for me.

I'm continuing a save where I'm engaging in a little bit of roleplay. My farmer is "Br Benedict" of Abbey Farm, and my idea is to play him as a monk-figure, whose farm exists not to maximize profits but to serve the community. Accordingly, I plant a variety of things, including crops I don't normally bother with. Item requests from town are prioritized, since Br Benedict is there to serve. Profits go to fruit trees, since I want this to be a lowkey save where I'm not constantly having to work. Speaking of, Br Benedict does not work on Sundays: instead, he goes to the church-thing at Pierre's and then takes walks and fishes. I'm not sure if I want to let him marry or not.....monks don't, but he's not exactly in a monastery, and Emily is also very 'spiritual' so that might be fun. As it stands I'm at the beginning of Year 2, Summer 1: I have max hearts with Evelyn, Shane, Leah, and George, 7 with Emily. Community Center is almost done, save for Walleye, Duck Feather, and Large Goat Milk. Just now building a coop so it will be a bit.

Started a fresh Beach Farm save a while ago, just need a rabbit's foot to finish the community center again in winter year 1, lucky too since I forgot to upgrade the barn first before the coop, instead doing it vice versa and forgot I needed a truffle, which I had to get from the cart. I notice just how steep the economic advantage is of starting with the Meadowlands farm is now that I'm using the beach farm. I'm finally learning how to rethink mass farming, my usual go-to strategy for making money fast.

Got a nice box car in one of the trains.

Today Sebastian suggested that we raise slimes. He said there is money in it.
I don't do slimes Sebastian. He'd better not suggest it again!

Side-goal complete! This is my most valuable chest, worth over half a billion! (512,677,074)

Behold!

With the billion I got from Diamonds that makes well over 1.5 billion. Getting closer to the max that the game allows.

I think I may start replacing my Fish Ponds with Slime Hutches, and see what kinda profit THOSE give. For fun.

My singular Red Slime that just popped out of nowhere is beginning to encase itself by not moving from a location that slowly is covered with debris. The debris is forming a weird square that perfectly encased him and I kinda don't want to free him when that encasement completes... you better run and save yourself, but knowing how persistent it decides to stay on my farm, I really don't think he wants to escape anytime soon :slime:.

In other news, I finally got Qi quests to complete, and the first quest was to beat Dangerous Skull Cavern to FL100... yet I haven't even climbed FL100 on normal Skull Cavern. I have saved up thirty-ish Jades and 135 Refined Quartz and luckily converting all that to Bombs and Staircases were just enough to get me through that challenge with absolutely no room to spare. Qi says I'm dishonorable, sure, but I think the 40 Qi Gems and getting the special milk just right before the quest expires (unlocked Qi Room on Saturday night...) is worth the dishonor. I got tired of losing my old pal horse and needed the flute desperately because not even hats on the pal help me find him.

But I wish I find that Dwarf Scroll IV sooner because right now me and ol' Dwarf ain't communicatin' and he's my bomb dealer, so we better be talkin' soon!! As well, I guess it made sense but the Volcano Dungeon dwarf was also not talking to me but I never unlocked the Volcano before Dwarvish Translation Guide and it is kinda something I want to prioritize soon...

The farmer had an intense 2 minutes battle with The Legend II today and it was quite the nail biter as it came close to fleeing several times. I wish I recorded the whole thing but I can only capture the last 30 seconds of it due to Switch limitations.. but I got two of these little feisty goons in one catch - no wonder it was going crazy! This was perfect as I wanted to raise more Legends for their sweet, sweet roes (as opposed to traditional Ancient Fruit income) for my Lil Quackers farm.

Although I wonder if it is more skillful to have a long sustained battle with The Legend or just get that thing caught from the get, wouldn't it be incompetence to not have caught that thing for that long? This thought truly baffles the farmer, but with two Legend IIs in hand, he does not dwell on it too much. 🎣

Yes! I didn't realize what that meant at the time. I saw river and thought "River good", and that was it. It's been a learning experience.

Yesterday was 26 Summer, and boy! I went over 100K gold for the first time, and celebrated by expanding my coop (to be followed by the barn) and completing the vault in the community center. Now I can explore the desert. :D Also in this last half of summer, I got a HORSE (gotta go fast, gotta go fast!) and a silo. Things are going good. I don't think I can complete the community center in year 2 (unless I find a few things from the traveling cart), but maybe early year 3. Also got to ten hearts with Penny & Leah. I gave Abigail a fairy flower and she's like "Thanks for the snack! :) " :hmph:
Haha penny is always my go-to when choosing a partner but damn that girls got expensive taste! One fun thing I like to do is go on the sv wiki and look at the history of the characters look. The wiki is bonkers useful if you haven’t checked it out yet

Today in the Skull Cavern, I found a perfectly ordinary treasure room, but the treasure was 15 Parsnip Seeds, with a note attached.

So I guess THAT'S something that happens.

Lewis flexing on ya and telling you to go back farming in one shot :toothy:
I wonder if this happens as well for Meadowlands farm, now my curiosity is piqued but I don't have the willpower to go through finding that out.
