1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

I got Alex as a vendor twice at the Desert Festival... I have 8 Alex's Bat now. I already had 4 and I autopilot-bought two more on each day. Oops. 😆 Oh well, I still had enough eggs to buy everything else I wanted.

Also managed to take home 2 Golden Bobbers. I haven't done the fishing quests before, I normally head right for the skull cave challenges. But I found out you can get more than one Golden Bobber as long as you don't have one in your inventory, and they stick around post-festival so they're now safely in my shinies chest. They stack! - probably because they aren't a real bobber.

Weird thing though, after getting the second one I put it in a chest and went back to fishing, I got nothing but trash or green algae for the rest of the day - no fish at all, so no chance of treasure chests. Anyone else tried bobber-bobbing for extras and had that happen? I could have just been really unlucky but it was 15-20 casts. 🤔

It’s because both available fish are only catchable during the day (I think until 8 pm). I had the same experience when I tried Willy’s quest after the skull cavern challenge.

Almost finished with the community center in this first 1.6 playthrough. I don't wanna stop but ginger island is so buggy on console right now, sadly I'll have to take a break after finishing with the CC. Hopefully we see a patch for consoles soon and I can continue ^_^ 1.6 has been lovely so far! Definitely worth the looong wait lol

Paddy did a lot. With his diamond and ancient fruit wine money, he was able to build Pam's house (anonymously) and the movie theater in one weekend. He hung out with Leo who was ruminating about what life would be like if he weren't a feral child raised by parrots. After Paddy assured him it would be OK, Paddy got creeped out by the Joja parrot:

Paddy: Is that. . .
Leo: NOT bird-friend! Walnut thief!
Paddy: Well, I have a pretty good stuffing recipe. . .
Leo: I don't think you can digest that.

Paddy spent a day blowing up stuff in the Volcano mine to get stone for more Crystalaria. He's about 3/4 done with the Big Shed o'Manufactured Diamonds!

And he commissioned the town pathing improvements.

Maybe Abby will boot up Journey of the Prairie King today. She will beat the whole game one of...jpg

You've got the console version in your room and I recently got the arcade version, so go for it. Are there any mods that incorporate her winning or her reacting to us winning?
Gus made Abby a dark purple refresher to match her hair and it tastes great.jpg

Never saw Abby and Gus at the resort at the same time before. Is there a collection of Ginger Island visitor dialogue somewhere?
Joja Train.jpg

I'm also basically collecting as many train variants as I can.
Emily Community Spirit.jpg

I finally got a new Help Wanted quest that I admit is a little challenging since it doesn't exclusively keep track of which NPC's you greeted in a way you can easily keep up.
Great Luck Background.jpg

Haven't seen this great luck background in a long time.

I also seem to have re-learned that kids do not attend the luau, so I guess my family festival album will be complete at the Year 6 Flower Dance instead.

I completely and totally forgot about the luau! Got rated average for a summer squash, which was very funny in hindsight. Usually, I manage at least "good" on the first year. This farm is on 50% profit, so I had been selling everything in a mad scramble for money. I am normally a hoarder, so it's been interesting to play differently. ("I'm sure I will get another one eventually, even if it's ten game years down the line ..." yeah, the hoarder in me is screaming for help.)

Did the beach farm always start you with a chair? I don't normally take note, but I have begun chair hopping into the secret woods, and I swear it's not usually possible for me because I always play on farms that only give you a bench. So far it hasn't given me a huge advantage, unless you consider early mahogany seeds to be game breaking.

Huntress Farm update:
  • I added a dining room to the farmhouse and turned it into a game room with a mini-solarium.
  • To decorate it, my farmer took Sebastian on another date night too see the current Fall showing at the theater. I played the crane game and got a serpent pillar, two small pumpkin decals, a fancy tree, an "It Howls in the Rain" poster, and a Junimo plush.
  • My farmer took Abagail to see the same film on her birthday (on which it happened to be raining) and got the other serpent pillar, a large pumpkin decal, another fancy tree, another Junimo plush, and a weird broccoli-looking plant I accidentally grabbed.
  • Sebastian has been found in the new game room three times in the week it's been there.
  • My farmer has found four fairy boxes, two ice wands, and a quiver but no more frog eggs. Where are all the frog eggs? I have a sanctuary to run.
  • I went back to the island for four days in a row (always an hour or two before Willy closed the shop), three of which it was raining (I'm on year 3 and have all the queen of sauce recipes so I'm no longer checking the TV daily) and I got three of the four jewel birds.
  • My blue discus pond has been giving me bananas lately, so I used one for the banana shrine.
  • I've rebuilt the island farmhouse, so the resort is unlocked and I'm at 15 of the 20 walnuts needed to rebuild it. Soon, I shall have my stingray pond.
  • I got the recipe from, and beachside heart event for, Leo.
  • My farmer met the Gourmand Frog and brought an extra irridium sprinkler to the island farm. I planted melon and wheat seeds. I forget what the third thing he wants is so I'll just have to wait until he tells me. In the meantime, I also planted a bunch of mixed seeds I got clearing the weeds out.
  • I got a bunch of pineapple seeds from monster drops and have started planting them in pots around the edges of my greenhouse.
  • The slimes in my hutch have bred several blue, red, and purple variants, plus a cute little gray guy.
  • I have three of the five dragons teeth needed for the mini forge.
  • I competed the 'ship 100 amaranth' quest, so I have a mini shipping bin in the attic (and one in the cellar from Gus' omelet guest).
  • I filled half of the second shed with preserve jars. I now have enough to add pickles and jams to my farms regular produce on top of all the aged roe.
  • I made a sign to remind me to pick the flowers from my bee hive area on the 28th because I forgot last season.

Paddy, having just commissioned his iridium trash can has completed the "Three Candle Challenge" of doing a bunch of stuff without the Iridium Spitting Statue:
  • 17 Iridium Sprinklers
    • 6 at Ginger Island watering 144 Ancient Fruit
    • 1 More at Ginger Island, watering a 24 tile "oh, you need a <thing>?" plot.
    • 6 on the mainland farm garden plot.
    • 4 in the greenhouse, plus another two that were purchased from Krobus before he had the recipe
  • All tools upgraded to Iridium
  • 151 Crystalaria
    • 136 in the Big Shed of Manufactured Diamonds
    • 10 churning out Jade for Skull Cavern runs (down from 17; 7 were moved to the big shed since Crystalarium building was no longer going to be top priority).
    • 6 turning out standard gems, including 1 for a semaphore diamond that is kept in sync with the big shed. (One of these came from a treasure room in Skull Cavern.)
  • All four Obelisks
In summary:
17 Crystalaria churning out Jade got me enough Iridium from the SC mines during the Big Shed of Manufactured Diamonds project that, even without the Statue of Perfection, gold was the likeliest cause of slowdowns with stone running a close second.

Once the Big shed was done, Paddy exchanged the blacksmith profession for the gemologist profession to maximize profit from the diamonds.

And now, Paddy will take a diamond to the mausoleum for an ebullient evaluation from grampa, and we'll see if that quiets Abby down about keeping the area around the mausoleum clean.

I was gonna wait til the update that patches everything to drop before I play again, but I can't help wanting to play Meadowlands... so I created a new save!

Wowza, it's actually really nice - getting Hay instead of Parsnip was a huge surprise, as I am reminded my two chickens are my utmost priority this time.(Lewis still did remind me of my first parsnip harvest though lol, which I actually farmed from wild seeds [wish he'd congratulate Charlie's first egg you know!!])
And while I still do lots of fishing like always, it's all used to supplement income to build better things for Charlie and Charles, and hopefully find them more buddies.

Maybe it was my bias for other things, but I did not know the impact of mayonnaise on starting income - 190g feels like nothing until you LET it become your primary income for the first month haha. I got a nice 2k payout selling all my mayonnaise and got myself a cute little bag!

Perhaps it was just the slower pacing and not worrying about minmaxing, but I did enjoy talking to villagers and seeing flavor text this time around as well!

Mayo is totally a dark horse. Once you get the big coop, your egg production just snowballs.

I'm really enjoying the new NPC dialogue - there is a lot more than I expected.

Yup! I don't notice it too much when it's in an Autograbber and usually I chest the eggs so I can cook recipes, but now... that's 2 eggs (and I just got Chocolate! My third chick) every day for very very low maintenance. You don't gotta water every single crop and waste your energy or play a long fishing minigame... just pet and collect! Then you can do literally anything else.

Ah... were some of them new? I did make a good attempt to talk to everyone in MoLand farm, but I swear I've never seen some of the dialogues... that's really cool, because I felt like the folks actually know what I was up to!
