I appreciate your excellent work on the game! I'd like to suggest a new mechanic: fishing nets. This would add realism, diversity and immersion.

Quick note: These events and information may be adjusted to balance the game and provide a fun and challenging experience.

Characteristics:

1. Basic Fishing Net: Allows fishing without harming the ecosystem.
2. Medium and Intelligent Fishing Net: Advanced technology for maximum yield, with treasure discovery.
3. Net Types: Different nets for varied environments.
4. Random Events: Encounter giant fish, turtles or obstacles.

Benefits:

1. Increased realism.
2. Diverse mechanics.
3. Enhanced immersion.
4. Replayability.

Gameplay:

1. Net Selection: Choose suitable nets for environments.
2. Net Launch: Click or button to launch.
3. Fishing Time: Wait for nets to collect fish.
4. Collection: Gather caught fish.

Factors Affecting Fishing:

1. Fisherman Skill: Skill level influences efficiency.
2. Fish Type: Different fish have varying difficulties.
3. Environment: River, sea, lake, etc.
4. Weather: Time, wind, rain, etc.
5. Equipment: Net and hook quality.

1. Storm: Reduced visibility, increased difficulty.
2. Tide Change: Fish quantity increases/decreases.
3. Rain: Increased specific fish activity.

1. Fishing Challenge: NPC challenges player.
2. Message in a Bottle: Mysterious message found.
3. Team Fishing: Player invited to fish with NPCs.

Excellent suggestion, and it can also be an alternative way for players who have difficulty with fishing using a rod.
 
I think when we have a possibility to get bigger fishes we also need some balancing features to normal fishing.
Maybe high sea fishing is pretty expensive and the player has limited chances to get big fishes. Maybe we need a new fishing rod with expansive bait, the fishing-game needs more time etc..
Or when loosing the fight with a big fish (small chance of 3-5%) the player looses the used fishing rod too.
Something like that.
