Honestly, I don't think some people are thinking through their choices. If you remove the NPC, you remove from the game the things that NPC can provide you.

Mr Qi? Well, good bye to all those end-game perks on Ginger Island.

Similar things happen with most of the other people mentioned. Be careful what you wish for, people. Your wish might be provided via monkey-paw.
I'd still ask for Mr Qi to be gone. He's ruining the cosy vibes so much with his antics and clearly being an antagonist hiding in plain sight that we can't get rid of. I'd sacrifice the perks with no hesitation. The addition of mystery boxes isn't even good. Mr Qi actively littering the valley for us to find random stuff and boxes like we're some kind of hamster needing enrichment. The game has become rather bleak with 1.6.

(And outside of Qi, I'm not a fan of reward tickets either for the same reason as mystery boxes. We were already getting a kind reward from the villagers and we felt less forced to "do it for the reward" back then where there was not a bigger reward. Lewis, your idea backfired so bad)

The valley would be better without Qi, period.
