This isn't information you will want to know, but if Marnie leaves the shorts there, it's because she wants them there. Maybe the quest should be like the Necklace quest where you get extra friendship to whichever of the two you return it to...

I always cancel that quest because I don't pick up other people's dirty old underpants!

in order of most hate to least hate:

1. MORRIS! I have many things to say about this man buuuuut I don't want to get banned.
2. LEWIS! Mostly because he's into Marnie but refuses to say ANYTHING! LIKE FOR GODS' SAKE MAN UP DUDE! and also, he's asking the farmer, who, like you said, has only been there a short time, TO GET HIS UNDERWEAR AND TRUFFLE OIL??!!
3. Mr. Qi! He just weirds me out. Like, you stalk on the entire town and expect me to trust you?
4. SHANE! I'm sorry, but he cannot be fixed. no matter how hard you try.
5. EMILY! She's too spiritual for me

Its kinda funny with Emily. They live in a world, where magic and all that stuff exists. Her whole color and stone stuff is not just some esotheric nonsense. Its based on facts. Which makes her less spiritual and puts her closer to an actual healer/scientist.

The thing to always remember about Alex, whether he's being Alpha wannabe to your male character or creepy to your female character, is that someone with the Farmer's functional strength can likely kick his gym-rat butt to Zuzu City and back.
