Hop on multiplayer, put it on a table, and have both players grab it at the same time. Works best on console if you have two controllers and are good at multitasking. You can do it with machines like the statue of effing perfection by having two players break it at the same time. Apparently, there is no check for these things to assign a priority if two players do an action to pick up an item from a table or cause something to drop an item. By having two people deal a final chop to a tree at the same time, it will also drop double.

I have completed the Magma Sprite monster slayer goal. Thirteen more Pepper Rex to go and I've completed them all.
I'm also one fossil away from getting my ostrich egg incubator. Apparently, I need to fish for it. I have the island obelisk on Frump Farm and the farm obelisk on the island, so that's making it easy to pop over for some fishing in the evenings. I'm thinking of relocating my mayo makers to the barn so I can build a couple more if I end up giving any more birds a golden animal cracker (all five void chickens and both ducks have one already, as do my rabbit, dinosaur, one goat, and all nine fish ponds). Then, I could also build some more preserve jars and fish smokers in my shed, which would be nice.
I put a slime egg incubator near the toad's cave entrance on the island farm and tried three times to incubte slime eggs but there was never a slime present after getting the notification that the slime hatched. I moved the incubator into the island farmhouse and now have a female tiger slime and male blue slime bouncing around in there. Has anyone been able to hatch and breed free-range slimes on the island farm (in the vanilla game)? If so, where did you place the incubator?
One more thing, After some experimenting, I have reason to believe that the exploit that allows you to plant beehives on Winter 28 and get their harvest on Spring 4 instead of 5 has been patched out. Oh well.
One last edit: It seems that married life bars spouses from their annual clinic check-ups. Shame; I was hoping to go there while Abby was in to wish her well and everything.
Okay, NOW it's the last edit, I hope: I think the game just teased me about that clinic bit because the dish of the day at the Stardrop Saloon was Spicy Eel, one of Abby's favorites. And another Spicy Eel from the trash can outside the saloon!
I tried looking for a goby. I failed. Where are they? Are they just really rare? I know I'm in the right place. Where are they? Why do they refuse to appear?
Just checked the wiki (it's a godsend for mid-game), bottom of the waterfalls? Really? Here I was, thinking it was just hyper-rare, but I just thought it could be caught anywhere in the river.
Edit; I blame F.I.B.S. Go figure. They just say "river, 8 am to 6 pm"

They're only at the water where two waterfalls meet. Willy tells you about them.
Go to the two waterfalls near the Hat Mouse's shop. Get as close to edge of either waterfall and cast your line to the pool of water below them. It usually only takes a few casts to catch one. Good luck!
For the first time ever in my 500 odd hours of playing SDV, I got an autopetter in a Skull cavern chest!
Unfortunately it turned out to be completely useless, as 1- I went Joja on this run and 2- I was looking for Pepper Rexes and after encountering the grand total of zero in around a hundred explored floors, I restarted the day entirely.
Although I managed to make to floor 128 without a single staircase (forgot to pack any, and didn't feel like going back to grab some), so yay?
Urgh, I just dislike it so much when a vital element for perfection is locked behind pure RNG. Luckily I can buy perfection now, as unsatisfying as that is.
Finally found that goby last night. However, I forgot that my save last left off on the day of the Ice festival, so it was just "Okay, deal with the chickens, barn, ancient fruit wine, pumpkin jui--" "The festival of ice has begun near marnie's ranch" "FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, WHY IS EVERYTHING SO OUT-OF-THE-WAY?!"
...safe to say, I had to wait a bit for that Goby.
I then proceeded to accidentally blow up one of my mini-obelisks.
I then proceeded to unlock ginger island for only the second time ever, and got 4 (count them, 1, 2, 3, 4.) journal scraps from grass outside Leo's hut.
