we can make our own vinegar now?
I'm glad I don't have any of my regular recipes that require vinegar, but mass producing garlic has been rewarding for me, both monetarily and also bc I just love cooking.
Yes, it's possible since Update 1.6 (Idk the former, started with this one). Put a pack of rice (not unmilled) in a keg and you get vinegar.
I also love cooking in SDV and irl, usually end up with 4 fridges to store everything ☺

What about placing that big blue bear you get from Gunther there? And the puzzle table with different coloured cushions? Some junimo decals for the wall or some of the smaller pictures from the catalogue? Some of the little plush junimos from the crane Game?
Sometimes I miss some child stuff in the catalogue, there are no toys available or other things you e.g. find in Vincents or Jas' room...

I'll keep rooting around to see what I can find. I normally don't decorate, so this is always bleh for me. I forgot about the bear tho, I think he's in the library for jas and Vincent or something. I've been plopping things in the museum as I get them

Depends on my spouse, favourites are Pumpkin soup and pie, complete breakfast, Pancakes and Pizza, Salmon Dinner, Crab cakes and Special for me Spicy Eel, Pepper Poppers, TS Espresso and blueberry tart 🤓
that's quite a decent lil menu there. the blueberry tart makes me laugh xD
who's your spouse this time?

for me, my menu is a little all over the place. I cook salads and poppyseed muffins for leah, and an assortment of things for myself. Pepper poppers or complete breakfast if I don't have snips for a farmers lunch, and lobster bisque or fish stew when I'm fishing, but honestly I'll make chowder or almost anything for fishing. I have crab pots set up all over the place so it's a non issue to get the ingredients. but as a forage farm, I almost always have a maple bar on me. early game it's field snacks, but the maple bars come in handy bc I don't always eat food before I leave to do stuff in the morning.

but selling things for profit? there's always sashimi and maki rolls, which help with fishy stuff, but like I said fiddlehead risotto has been kind to me, but I'm also currently eyeballing the stir fry, red plate, and eggplant parm. I need to finish filling out my cookbook tho. I'm missing about a dozen or so recipes.

Actually it's Elliott, the other saves have Alex, Sam and Sebby. But Alex is my Favourite so far.
Blueberry tart and Cookies is for my Farmer, she loves it just like me in irl 🥰

lol that's cute. so far my favorite has been haley, but I'm having a lot of fun with Leah in this save. I imagine her wandering around the forest farm and really enjoying herself. but that's why I went with her this save. oh, heres a pic of the farm I took earlier today:

it's kinda a mess rn, I'm in the middle of redoing my paths, and I only recently put that big field in. before that my fruit trees were there, so I had to move them all to where they are now. thankfully they keep their quality stars when you move them, lol.

about the food quest, isn't the easy way to do that to just buy a lot of coffees from gus and turn them into espressos?
It's easy, yes, but you pay just over 200,000G for the coffee to get 100,000G back from the triple shot espresso. Another easy way would be buying flour for 166,700G to get just over 100,000G back from the bread. I'm being a cheapskate and prefer to reduce my loss for that quest.
A much better dish is pale broth if one has a bunch of white algae, as it actually brings a profit. Admittedly, white algae is one of those things that I tend to throw away if something better comes along when the backpack is full. Poi sells for 400G, so it's a good dish to make for that quest if one has a bunch of spare taro roots laying about, which I usually have. Only a small loss compared to selling the base quality ingredients and fills out the total nicely. I keep getting taro tubers and I'd rather plant them than sell them.

Pale Broth, I'll keep that in mind, may be a good alternative and a better use than just cook it once for the achievement ☺

As for what happened in my game is that I reached perfection. Visited the summit on day 15 of Winter year 3. Like the previous two saves, the Pepper Rex was the last monster hunter goal completed, but I did get the Qi quest that unlocked the dangerous Skull Cavern before that. The mushroom log grove made it easy to earn money, especially after most of it got replaced with mystic trees. Also had my first day of 7 figure earning, allowing me to see the numbers bounce a little.
I married Harvey, but it took over a season before he asked about getting a baby, so my farmer's only pregnant. Then again, I was late in deciding who to give a bouquet and then marry, so it's not all Harvey's fault.

Rolled dice about what map to use for my next save, and landed on Riverland. I think Sebastian would fit this map really well, consdering how he likes to stand looking at the water. Now I just need to come up with names for the farm and the farmer.

Wow, perfection in year 3, quite a run... Almost as fast as some others here would do it, but miles away from my speed of play, congrats! 👏
I reached perfection only in my first save, just for knowing what it feels like. Since that I only play and see how far I get, try different farms and spouses and have fun.

Thanks! I've put perfection as the point of making a new save with a different farm and spouse, after having had a bunch of saves that reached the point of me realizing "I could've done better if..." making me start over (and delete the previous file once I realize I've really abandoned it). Perfection has a rather definite and diverse list of stuff to work on, so in any given day I can pick whatever task I feel like working towards.
The first two saves: Meadowlands and Hilltop, I reached perfection in the last week of Spring year 4, so my Beach farm reached it about 5 weeks earlier thanks to mushroom log farming.

I guess I'm competing a bit against my old self, but in a laid-back way. It's more of a "how does this farm compare to earlier runs?" That keeps me from erasing the older saves. So far the "fastest time" list is Beach, Meadowlands, Hilltop, with Hilltop being a day or two slower than Meadowlands.

So far I haven't had more than fleeting urges to set myself a post-perfection challenge.

yeah I completely forgot about pale broth and algae soup, which both net a decent profit for what they are.
