Issue VLC Support for MacBook

I use a MacBook for my PC gaming, and recently, I’ve been trying to start up a new game with Pokemon mods.

However, some of the mods, such as Alolan Vulpix replaces Cat, and PokeCrops, are coming up as VLC files. And of course, I can’t simply put the files into Mods as they don’t work.

How can I change this so I can use the mods? Or is there an process for VLC mods?

Have you figured this out? I have the same thing and I don't understand it
VLC grabs documents with many different extensions and attempts to "own" those files, assuming they're all video or audio files.

It makes a lot of mistakes.
Apps shouldn't make assumptions, sigh.

Files that end with: .mp4 .mkv .wmv are fine for VLC but yeah it likes to grab loads of others.

A .rar file like in the original post is not a media file for VLC, instead it's almost always a compressed file that needs a program to uncompress it. I use a program called The Unarchiver for .rar files and it's free. Please install it from the App Store, but VLC may still retain "ownership" of the .rar file afterwards. If so, we can fix that!

Right-click (or CTRL-click) on your .rar file and select Get Info
Expand the Open With section
Click the popup labeled with VLC
Select The Unarchiver from the popup
Click the Change All button (so all .rar files will open in The Unarchiver)

Now you should be able to double click any .rar file and it will expand to the proper Mod file you downloaded!
