Greenhorn
Hey there :)
So I really enjoy fishing, and I know that late game it mostly isn't really worth it anymore...
But I did find some things that I still find useful:
- fishing up useful fish for recipes like Eel, Midnight Carp, Flounder, Sea Cucumber
or in gamefiles where I'm not maxed out yet for friendship like Super Cucumber, Catfish, Sandfish, Sea Cucumber, Pufferfish, Salmon (Salmon Dinner), Tuna (Fish Taco)
- fishing at the night market - I really enjoy it + it makes a lot of money, did some math and wrote down my catches and also challenged myself to get iridium catches if anybody is interested
- eventually some seasonal stuff could be worth it? Like Catfish when it's a rainy Spring/Fall for example? Do you have other season/weather/time/locations where it's especially lucrative?
- fishing the QI's legendary family - now that's where I would have some questions. It's only my second time doing the quest, the first time I didn't realize that they disappear as soon as you catch the last one. Now I'd like to make the most money out of it as possible (but still catch all of them at the end for the QI Gems ^^) You can catch as many as you want, in 3 days.
Ms. Angler - lowest baseprice of 900g and (mostly?) only silver quality but gold for the others so not worth it.
Glacierfish Jr. - Baseprice 1000g, seems to appear pretty frequently - worth it.
Radioactive Carp - Baseprice 1000g same as Glacierfish Jr. but appears less frequently +Byfish mostly trash or Carp so less worth it.
Son of Crimsonfish - Baseprice 1500g - don't know yet, caught it once during my first quest, it was the first time casting my rod at the right place
Legend II - Baseprice 5000g - appears rarely but is worth so much more then the others!
(As I've got it open so you don't have to look it up: Price development from baseprice to quality and Angler profession: 900g-->1687g silver. 1000g --> 2250g gold, 1500g --> 3375g gold, 5000g -->11250g gold)
Now.. Did anybody do the math or has got more experience with it or any information about the % of appearance (and is it influenced by how many other fish are around, so like season, weather, time?)
(The difficulty doesn't matter to me, I like fishing + I pop a fish stew (+3, easy, cheap, lasts all day) and obviously got level 10 fishing and sometimes Master enchant, Combined with Trap Bobber so I don't miss them. Oh and I use Wild Bait if I've got some for faster catches + chance of catching two... )
My feeling would be to catch the Radioactive Carp, Ms. Angler and the Legend II first (to be sure to get it), then go catch as many Crimson or Glacier or Legend as I can and finally go and catch the last one (which should appear frequently to be able to get to the spot as late as possible to loose as little time as possible...)
What do you guys think? Wait around to catch a few Anglers or better go to catch a lot of one of the others?
Of course you can gladly share any other thoughts on late game fishing here :)
