Windows Quest Disappeared

Same here. It seems to be the quest for building a Chicken Coop. I've compared the save file before and after (while making a backup) and it seems like all the details related to the quest are completely gone. Even the quest reward.

I don't think the issue is related to using Alt+F4, and is only due to the game updating.

I've attached both save files; one from yesterday, when I stopped playing, and one from today, after updating the game and overwriting my previous save (I made a backup of the old save, don't worry). You can see the difference near the top of the document, the coop quest is one of the first things that show up.

Yes, I understand thank you. How can I fix it?
I can copy paste the quest part from your old file to mine but will it work?

Not just windows - same issue on Mac OS (14.6.1). Started a new game a few days ago, so in Spring year 1 and after updating to 1.6.9, the chicken coop quest is gone, just an arrow, but text has disappeared. I'd enabled autoupdates on Steam, so the change is definitely related to the update.

Hello,

My quest disappeared after I close the game with alt+f4.
No error logs.
Single-player on windows 11.
I'm on latest version and without mods.
Attached the save file and screenshots.

As you can see, i have the exact same problem, don't know how to fix tbh, it is obviously a bug related to the update. Unfortunately I don't even remember what the quest was since I just started today playing. Also, I never do ALT+F4 to close the games, so that probably isn't the issue. I didn't even knew that the game was still up to date, it was a nice surprise, not so much after encountering this bug. I sincerely hope they fix it... (I'm on Windows too btw)

The issue fixes itself by reverting to v1.6.8 on Steam for now.

Hopefully there is a fix soon.

I have attached screenshots of my issue.
How do you revert back to 1.6.8? I can't see how you do that in Steam?

In your Library on Steam, right-click Stardew Valley on your game list and select Properties.

In the Properties windows, select Betas.

On the Betas tab, go to Beta Participation and on the drop down menu select "legacy_1.6.8 - The legacy 1.6.8 version of Stardew Valley".

Steam will download the required files and it should say SELECTED BETA: legacy_1.6.8 next to the green play button on Stardew Valley's game page in your Library.

EDIT: If you ever want to go back to the latest version, select None from the Beta Participation tab.

Hi, I have this same bug, I think it happened after I had to exit my game without saving. (Didn't really have a choice, had to leave my computer quickly). The only other quest I have is To The Bottom and that one is fine. But my Raising Animals quest is just blank like in these screenshots shown here and I haven't built a coop yet.

Hello again everyone.

What I ended up doing after the reverting to the earlier version was complete the Raising Animals quest at my own pace. Once I did, I went back to the current version and my save has been working with no issues 20 game-days in.

Hope this helps out. Take care.

I know it's been a while but its deleting the "Dark Tailsman" quest after I talk to Krobus. I have SMAPI mods and I tried going to an older version of the game but it won't work. Is there any new things I could do?
