I once replied to one of his comments "Why don't you buy the original version" Then he replied in his country's language "Kalo ada yang gratis, ngapain bayar 😜" Emoticons that made me furious, finally I reported the comment to youtube 😤
It's really frustrating to encounter such attitudes, especially when it undermines the hard work of developers. Reporting comments that promote piracy is a good step, but let's also continue to encourage ethical gaming and educate others on the importance of supporting developers by purchasing original versions. Positive change often starts with spreading awareness and promoting respect for intellectual property.

What's the benefit of making SV Indonesian?
You and your friends 30% buy original but 70% or more use pirated. Is that called profit?
I'll preface by saying this: I'm Indonesian and I have 0 data about the number of copies of Stardew has been sold in Indonesia or the number of pirated copies.

Instead of talking about %, why don't we talk about the number of people that have bought it?

Are you saying that thousands of Indonesians that have bought the game legally like me don't deserve Indonesian translation because there are tens of thousands Indonesians who downloaded the game illegaly?
So people like me, who bought the game legally in multiple platforms, don't deserve Indonesian translation because of the sins of those other people?

Profit? At the end of the day, the important thing is not the % of pirated or % of original. If you're talking about profit, the % is not improtant. It's the number of sales that it generated. If the translation causes 5000 more Indonesians to buy the game legally, what does the % have anything to do with the profit? Sure it may cause 20,000 other illegal downloads, but at the end of the day it brings 5000 more sales so it still brings profit.

That's right, wasted work
Account created literally 1 minute before posting, liked a post, posted a reply, and then immediately logged out. Seems legit.

No dev, don't have an Indonesian version.

I analyzed that 75% of Stardew Valley players in Indonesia use pirated SV.

I am very sad because they don't appreciate you as a developer, so please don't ever grant this request Dev.

Thanks
Just realized this, it sure is a popular post! As of now there are 79 likes! And from those 79 likes, 78 of them came from newcomer accounts! Absolutely nothing suspicious at all!

Mods, unfortunately I think it's better to lock this thread at this point. The discussion here is getting dumber and going nowhere.
At the end of the day it's only a suggestion, if CA likes it, he will implement it. If he thinks he's too busy to implement it or for any other reason he doesn't want to implement this, so be it.

Hey, bro, I think it's ridiculous to say that adding Indonesian to this game is a waste of time.

If you're asking what the benefit of adding Indonesian is, the answer is obviously "exposure". Of course, I know Stardew Valley is already very popular, but wouldn't it still be beneficial to gain massive exposure from Indonesian players who say "I can't speak English"? By adding Indonesian, you can expect a huge boost in popularity because "hey, there's Indonesian, bro" in the game.

There are many paid games made in Indonesia or that have Indonesian language options which become very popular here just because "it has Indonesian, bro". Indonesian players are willing to pay for these games. Who doesn't know the Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons series? In Indonesia, these series are very well-known and became even more popular with the Indonesian language included. Even indie games like Coffee Talk, Potion Permit, and Coral Island have gained significant attention here.

And it should be noted that major streamers in Indonesia always promote legal games from official platforms like Steam. And if you are good at analyzing things, take a look at the fact that the total spending of gamers in Indonesia continues to increase year after year. We are now getting used to spending money on something we like. Sure, there are those who promote pirated games, but they are just small streamers whose subscribers don't even reach 10k.

While concerns about piracy are valid, adding Indonesian language support can still bring significant benefits. Making the game more accessible can encourage more players to purchase the original version, potentially increasing sales. Additionally, it shows respect and inclusivity toward Indonesian players, fostering a positive and loyal community. Profits aren't just about immediate sales; they're also about building long-term relationships with players.

I have absolutely no horse in the race, but I will say I don't think that argument is particularly good.

How does piracy (even if you have data to back up your numbers) mean that localization work would be a waste? If anything, it well might get more people to buy rather than pirate; being able to play a game in one's native language can mean a lot to many people.

Basically, what @greenbulbasaur said.

An excellent point.
Definitely not duplicate and/or friends' accounts, nope.

Why do you both think that's an Indonesian problem only?
Why should honest Indonesians unfortunately suffer from the fact that others use pirated software?

Indonesia is a huge country, ~200 mio. people. SDV has translations for lot smaller countries already.
And EVEN IF you calculate with only 30% honest uses - these 65 mio are still more than some already supported languages...

So why do you think your complaints esp. against Indonesian piracy is an argument at all?

You're absolutely right. Honest Indonesian players shouldn't suffer due to the actions of others. With a population of around 200 million, even a fraction of genuine users represents a significant number. Adding Indonesian language support can enhance the gaming experience for many players and foster a larger, more inclusive community. Thank you for highlighting this important perspective.
