Switch No Secret Notes

Hello,
I've seen other posts that were similar to my question about no notes being dropped in the game. I haven't found a solution that might suit my particular situation. I play on the first gen switch.

I assure you I have the magnifying glass. I've done the little song and dance with the shadow creature who lives in the sewer. I've played a previous game where I have been able to find notes before. I know that you have to actually read the note. But I have no notes. I assure you I have no notes.

In this particular game save it is year eight and I have not found any notes at all. In fact, I've been to the 100th level in Skull Cavern but yet no completion of the quest has happened. I haven't even found the notes that led me to other town secrets like I had in previous game saves.

I understand that it's a percentage drop. But I think that by year 8 in the game I should have come across some notes. I'm talking about the fact that I haven't come across ANY notes.

This farm in particular Is my most successful and in my opinion the prettiest that I've had. Am I going to have to delete this save and start over again? Is there something I can troubleshoot? Maybe like deleting Stardew Valley off of the switch console and re-instaling it? You know kind of like deleting the app and reinstalling the app on a phone. If you have some kind of advice or have had a similar issue, please let me know your experience. And what you did.

I'd probably save the farm. But I have no qualms in starting a new one. I would just like to see if I could correct this issue.

I do have the magnifying glass
I also have the key to skull cavern.
I'm stumped. I have even dug where I know I have found notes prior. Nothing popped up.

Also fyi, I couldn't send a picture to my phone idk why. I have done it before but my switch couldn't connect to my phone.

That’s weird, you should be able to find them. Do you see the tab for the secret notes? Could you find the journal pages on ginger island?

you could try cutting a giant crop, which should have the highest chance to find secret notes (80% if you have none).

Get this. I have had a giant crop. I didn't know that that could happen. Do you think the luck that I've been having with my farm and the luck of just everything going really smoothly kind of offset it and that's why I'm not finding notes? I'm also having terrible times in the mines. Like even on a really good day. Like when the fortune teller says that it's going to be like a really high luck day. I have a poopy time at the mines. Like a lot of attacks and I don't find a lot of ore. But what I do find ore I yield a lot of it.

Compared to my first go round I've been finding iridium or a whole lot more than I have the first go round.

When I did realize that I wasn't getting any notes or I haven't gotten any notes in a while. I went looking for the collection tab so I could go through the notes and see what treasures I've been missing. But lo and behold I haven't.

I also was waiting to go to Ginger Island until I had children. So I haven't done Ginger Island yet. But if I go to Ginger Island and I find the journal, do you think I'd start finding notes too?

I don’t know if getting the journal pages would activate the secret notes as well.

so harvesting the giant crop also didn’t give one?

do you remember if you accidentally cancelled the winter mystery quest?

sometimes rng is just weird for a save file.

The giant crop did not give me a note.

I did not cancel winter mystery.

I did start a new farm after this original post. I went through winter mystery quest. Got the magnifying glass and completed the quest. Then found my first note.

I went back to the save where I wasn't getting the notes originally. Now I am finding notes and have them in the sub tab in collections. But still haven't found many. I think I have 10 total that were read.

I'm not sure if it was a huge glitch. But the tab says that I have read the skull cavern note. The one where Qi(sp?) asks if you can do 100 levels. I wonder why when I went to the 100th level or past it didn't trigger the cut scene.

If you have any more information I would love to hear it. I'll try and go back down to 100 or more levels in skull Cavern. Thanks for your help and info.

Hi, sorry for suddenly butting in the thread. I also have the same problem on this save where I'm trying to accomplish everything as fast as I can. I also am not able to get Secret Notes. Before I can even get a single one, i was already on Ginger Island getting journal scraps. Now my records are all journal scraps with no secret notes. I've done a lot of runs in Skull Cavern, like going as deep as 150+, to farm for Prismatic Shards & Auto-petters. Yet not a single note. In my previous saves, i get a lot of notes in the mines.

going by your screenshot you’re on Android and not Switch, right? It might be helpful for the developers if you upload your save file here (just zip the whole folder).

You could try if starting a new save file and see if finding notes there resets your file as well.
