Help getting a prismatic shard

I'm doing a stardew valley playthrough, and I want to get perfection eventually, however, I want to get the galaxy sword before entering skull cavern, and I need a prismatic shard for that, but I can't find a great explanation of a method to get any quickly other than going into skull cavern. I checked the wiki for all the methods of getting a prismatic shard, and that helped a bit, but I don't know what way is the fastest, or what method I should use for optimal results with that way. Can you help me? For context, I'm currently on the 28th of fall year 1, and I haven't completed the community center, I still need to complete the pantry and the bulletin board, so I can't access the quary or any post community center things. I also have the Burglars ring and have reached the bottom of the mines if that affects anything.

Unlocking the quarry, hoping a mystic stone spawns there and you being lucky with it (25% chance), is usually the best bet. Or, going down the deepest parts of the mine, during very lucky days, hoping to find one there randomly.

Sometimes, completing the mines and then killing enemies in bulk, can sometimes lead to a Prismatic Shard drop. The chances are very low of course, but other sources seem to be much rarer.

Fish Ponds with Rainbow Trout can yield some, but throughout 6 in game years, only once i got it there.

You used to be able to spam Omni Geodes to get them, but I think 1.5 ruined that strategy with the desert vendor overhaul.

I believe Flying Serpents in the Skull Cave have a 0.1% chance of dropping one.

There's a guaranteed prismatic shard at the end of the volcano dungeon the first time you get there.

Other than that, what HaleyRocks said. Grinding the Skull Caves is generally the best way as the most ways it can drop appear there. Serpents, omni geode drops, treasure rooms, and mystic stones all exist.

On PC you can use Stardew Predictor to check which geode count or mystery box will have one so you can open an omni geode or the mystery box at the correct count. Outside of that running Skull Cavern should give one or more after few+ runs from monsters.

Me with the lucky rings because I remember grinding them in 1.6 for literally a month in-game just to get 3 and now I get 3 in one day while panning for something else

Spoiler: My conclusion

The fastest way to get Prismatic Shards is to reach to the Skull Cavern over 100th floor.

You can exploit crystal machines to produce JADE.
And then you can trade your jades to the Indian man in desert.

Once you have more than 100 staircases, go and place your staircases in Skull Cavern until 100th floor.

I don't think it will be easy for you to have Prismatic Shards before entering Skull Cavern.
Above is just my advice as getting to at least 100th floor in Skull Cavern is the steadiest method to get Prismatic Shards.

Jup, would be my advise too. Once a mystic stone spawns, you could go to sleep, go to the quarry, try your luck and restart the day till you get it,.


Ooooor for some playthroughs (but yours don't sound like it) getting to ginger island might be the easiest way to get a prisi. I mean, it's delivered by a chest XD Have to put some work in unlocking it and getting the iridium though, but the upgraded pan should really help with that nowadays
