Solved [HELP] Game stutters to a practical stop

Stardew is suddenly killing my computer’s memory. Stardew used to work beautifully on my computer but now it hits 8 and it’s just unplayable. It’s like trying to play a slideshow. The music goes all weird, it’s stupidly hard to enter doorways and fishing is flat out impossible. I’ve tried EVERYTHING; disabling mods, completely, uninstalling SMAPI, task manager change affinity, set priority, reinstall, everything I can find on the web. Nothing has helped. I love this freaking game and wanted to get those last achievements. I’m so frustrated. It starts great but then just stops working.

Have you tried to set the game to compatibility mode? That might solve the stuttering issues

1. In your Steam library, right click “Stardew Valley”
2. Select “Properties”
3. Click on the “Betas” tab.
4. Click on the drop down menu, and select “Compatibility”
5. Your game should receive an update.
6. You should now be able to play Stardew Valley
