first time i played through while Kinda Knowing What I'm Doing I had most villagers (24+) maxed out on friendship by the end of year 1.
so by the time I finally got the Movie Theater up and running, I didn't really need it's help boosting anyone's friendship.
With the obvious exception of Kent, who needed a lot of help catching up in hearts to everyone else and getting a hold of his loved gifts was still far off to start (back in 1.5. no stardrop tea and no queen of sauce cookbook,)
So Kent became my farmer's designated movie buddy. So this old tradition/bias of mine has made Kent feel like my farmer (in all his iterations) 's best friend in town as he's the NPC my farmer actually does friend stuff with (as opposed to drive-by gifting everyone else on the way to the mines or whatever) and has given me a soft spot for Kent in general.
[Plus the Year 2 thing makes him feel kinda unheralded relative to the rest of the villagers as a "player base's favorite villager" and I love an underdog.]

plus he starts hooking you up with ordnance via the mail just in the phase of the game where big stacks of bombs to plunder the skull cavern with are just what you're looking for.
I love parrots so Leo became my favorite after he was added to the game. Plus his story is charming.

True, but Clint has a backstory that could possibly offer some redemption. In that he reminds me of Shane just a bit. Stuck in the pity party...
I hope he'll continue to man his shop. Same with Sandy, I'd love to see her take the bus to work at her shop for at least a few days a week.
Wizard seems to be very hung up on his ex. It would have been fun if the chances of a witch visit would double if you're married to wizard, though. LOL!!!

Linus has always been one of my favorites honestly. He’s one of the few characters who feels genuinely comfortable with who he is, and a lot of his scenes end up feeling surprisingly wholesome. I also like how he treats the player kindly right from the start without expecting much back.
Krobus is probably up there too though. The little shadow guy somehow ends up being one of the most chill characters in the whole game.

Probably Dwarf. Dwarf loves any gem you find in the mines and is easy to find. Also doesn't have any drama apart from that one incident with Krobus.
