Android Cannot complete pufferfish quest

I gave demetrius the pufferfish same day as I got the quest, he just takes it as a gift and says 'thats so thoughtful of you' and then 'thats not enough...I only need 1 of them'????

Edit: I was able to give it the next day but not the same day as I got the quest for some reason. Single player game, Samsung phone and English language
