PC [BUG] Skull key quest not received

I am playing a coop game, me and my partner were mining at level 119, I died and my partner quickly went down to level 120, while I was in the death animation/conversation with linus they received the skull key and quest, after the conversation finished I had the key but not the quest.

Is the quest important for progression? this is my first playthrough and I'm worried I wont be able to go further in the quest line without the quest? If so is there any way I can add the quest to my save in the game files?
