What's Your Horse's Name & Why?

You made me run down a rabbit hole. We're both right, it looks like, in the way of folk ballads. Peter Paul and Mary's version is likely best known these days, which is Stewball, and I learned it from Steeleye Span, who use my spelling.
Lol Rabbit hole it was I did the same, I'd never hear of Stewball or Skewball.
But the "Horse with no name" definitely love that Ooo and "the strawberry roan", Marty does some beautiful ballads.

Unrelated to this post Uzzlegorf, but how did you take those screenshots? I spent an hour or so trying to figure out how to take one of my character and use that as my picture here rather than the old man face I have now.

Was it easy to do? I have a key on my keyboard labeled Print Screen, but it doesn't seem to always work when I use it.

Thanks!

Hi qaija,

It seems like you play SDV on a PC since you mentioned Printscreen. If you're using Windows 10, there is a built in program called Snipping Tool which I use for all my game pics posted here.

First you need Stardew Valley to be in Windowed Mode:

1. Open Stardew Valley and if it opens to full screen (you can't see your Start Bar at the bottom and window Title Bar at the top), then open a save
2. Open the Settings (far right tab in the in-game SDV menu overlay, looks like a game controller you grabbed from Abby)
3. Scroll down until your find the Fullscreen popup and choose Windowed
4. If this shrinks down your window to too small, then click the maximize button on the upper right of the SDV window
5. Zoom your Stardew Valley view to 100% (or larger if you want, I sometimes go to 150% or more)
6. Close the SDV menu overlay

Now let's get that screen capture you want:

1. Click your Windows Search at the lower left in the menu bar and type in Snipping Tool and run it
2. In Snipping Tool, click the Mode button and then select Rectangular Snip
3. Click the New button and Snipping Tool will disappear and leave you with some crosshairs (it may do this automatically without clicking New)
4. Drag the crosshairs from one corner of what you want to capture to the other corner and release
5. That smaller selection you just made will pop up in a Snipping Tool window.
6. Save it.

Now you can upload that to your profile Pic here!

I hope this makes sense! :copper::copper::copper:

Farmer
Here are some examples of names used for my pets and animals of my various farmers:

Horse: I usually keep the default name provided by the game
Dog: I usually keep the default name provided by the game
Cats: Moustache, Fenocchio (a famous ice cream artisan) or Rouroux (which is a french nickname for redheads)

Cows: most of the time, my cows are named after french or italian cheeses: Camembert, Maroilles, Morbier, Mozzarella, Parmiggiano... and sometimes from meat: rostbeef, rumsteack...
Goats: like my cows, they are named after goat cheeses: Chavignol, Rocamadour...
Pigs: my pigs are named after pork meats: Jambon (Ham), Lardon (Bacon), Travers (Ribs)... That acts as some kind of motivation for them to find truffles...
Ostrich: not my favourite barn animal. They are named after something related to their long legs: Bigfoot or the like...

Chickens (white/brown): they are named after recipes made from eggs: Mayonaise, Sabaillon, Omelette...
Blue Chickens: Note or Jazz... Because blue!
Void Chickens: either something related to dark: Blacky, Noireaux (french for Blacky)... or something related to the fact they are strange: Weirdo, Zarbi (french word for Weirdo)...
Ducks: Colvert (Mallard), Magret (fine duck breast) or Inspecteur M
Rabbit: Fourrure (Fur/Fluffy), Papatte (Foofoot)
Dinosaur: Rex, Hercule... always something that one would expect from a massive and powerful dinosaur, not some kind of small lizard

Farmer
I love everyone's naming schemes!

This playthrough, I am mostly using pokemon names (though the void chickens are named after Kirby and Morpho Knight). My farmer is Mog (the moogle).
