1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

Very pesky! Seems like that thing is always one of the last artifacts I find, in every save! Probably just my luck with the game seed, but still. The durn hand!
Yes, it is for me, too. I think there may be one single game where I found it somewhere halfway, but usually it's one of the last ones. Most of the time it's on Ginger Island, on the dig site.

My game is in the last week of Winter already. On Monday I got Clint to open my golden coconut and a few other things I had lying around. Nothing special in the mystery boxes or geodes.

I brought Gus the coconut he needed, and bought the triple shot espresso recipe from him.

On Tuesday I picked up the slime charmer ring and used a warp totem to get to the beach so I was on time to get into Willy's shop. I barely made it.
When I got to Ginger Island, Gus was actually behind the counter, so I could buy the curry recipe and some gold-star mango wine for the Joja mart bundle.

resort.JPG

I also went to the mine to combine my new slime charmer ring with my burglar ring, and add two more rubies to my sword. Then I went back in and broke rocks for a bit. I managed to find the mummified bat, so I donated that on my way back home. I traded my regular coconuts for golden coconuts.
I still had some time to harvest my taro roots and ship them. If I counted correctly, I should have 100. If not, I still have a few days to ship a few more. I barely made it into my hut on time, though.

Wednesday was a busy day. I went into the Walnut Room for the first time, listen to Qi's ramblings, took the "dangers in the deep" quest. Then I went to Leo's hut to give him another feather.
Then I gathered the golden coconuts and geodes I had collected and took the boat home.

I'm playing too much. 😳

Anyhow, I brought the bottle of wine to the Joja mart, and completed the last bundle.

The last junimo gave a long speech...

And we now have a movie theater - that I'm promptly going to forget exists, probably. I always forget it exists and I have yet to do the claw game.

Winter Star was uneventful. I brough Elliott a duck feather and received a magnet from Willy.
No tea set. Willy doesn't gift tea sets, as far as I remember.

I only had a few days to finish Qi's quest and also kill the grubs Clint wanted me to kill. I spent all of Friday trying to get down the mines. I lost all of my bombs and a lot of money when I died. I went back down immediately (after eating), reached floor 25 and passed out there.
Not the best result, but I found radioactive ore, and some monsters that dropped entire radioactive bars. And one slime that dropped an auto-petter. I gave it to my coop animals.

On Saturday I made 20 more staircases from my stone stacks - and on Sunday I decided to sacrifice another stack for another 10, since I'd reached floor 90 with only 17 staircases left.
On Sunday I managed to get to the bottom of the mines, with 1 staircase left. Since it was still early, I went to the desert to convert my 50 jades to new staircases in case I get the quest to get to floor 100 next week.

With two extra qi-gems from slaying slimes, I now have 52 qi gems as well as a prismatic shard, one galaxy soul, a load of radioactive ore and some bars, a golden animal cracker and of course that one auto-petter I got on Friday. Marlon found my lost bombs, too.

Not a bad way to end Year 2.

Indeed 😁👍🏻 hopefully Grandpa will be proud of you 🤞🏻

I was gifted a Tea-Set triple times so far, got one in my very first save from Gus after 10-12 years I think, later one from Evelyn after a few years, Buuuut! in one of my latest saves my farmer got one from Alex in Year 1! She immideately felt for him 😇☺

Dance of the Moonlight Jellies happened on a main harvest day. I did manage to both turn keg shed over to a new cycle and go to the festival, taking care of half the shed before and half after. Then played a few days into Fall. The stack chest saw its fifth exchange of the year, and only two stacks of ancient fruit wine remains.

And then it was Year 3 already. (I really, REALLY think I'm playing too much? 😂 )

Monday Spring 1 was busy. Grandpa came to visit, and there are now 4 candles on the shrine.
I forgot to pick up my statue, though. Too busy with the spring cleaning and planting.

I planted my strawberries and my 6 coffee beans. Then I went to Pierre's to get a few of everything, because I'm not sure what I'll need for cooking this year.
This week's quest was Evelyn's quest for leeks, at last. I really do want that coffee machine!! Also, it's the last one I haven't done yet.

That night the crop fairy messed up my entire lay-out.

On Tuesday I wanted to go back to Ginger Island - after taking care of my animals and retrieving my statue from grandpa's shrine. However, now I needed to get more seeds to replace all the different crops the crop fairy grew for me.
I ended up in the forest to listen to Vincent's lecture on spring onions instead.

springonion.JPG

And then I had to help Leah get fruit out of a tree before I could finally head to Pierre's to get my seeds. By the time they were planted it was too late to get into Willy's shop.

On Wednesday I watch the last Queen of Sauce rerun I will ever need, and I can now make bruschetta. I actually cooked a few dishes, and then decide to go see Harvey, because he owes me a cut-scene.

Clint opened all my golden coconuts, and I now have the head for the mammal skeleton. I went to the island to donate it. And while clearing out the farm and the beach I also found the second snake vertebrae in a mussel node, which was the last Ginger Island bone I needed for Professor Snail.
I now have enough walnuts to get my last upgrade - the obelisk to get me home. I also have a total of 3 banana saplings and 3 mango saplings, so I made a small orchard on the beach. Professor Snail also gave me the blueprint for an ostrich incubator.

I wanted to look for more journal scraps (to get the ostrich egg), but while I was clearing the dig site hoping it would pop up there, I actually found the skeletal hand!!
So once that is in Gunther's greedy little hands, I will have completed the museum.

I got a deconstructor from Mr Qi, picked up a quest to reach level 100 in the dangerous skull cavern, so I will need more staircases. I'm not sure I have enough stone to make more, though.
I decide to sleep on the island.

On Thursday I ran around collecting stones and bones. I went into the volcano, because I somehow ran out of cindershards - and I need stones for staircases. I found one more journal scrap, so that's two more to go. I don't really care about the last one, but I need the one that tells me where to find the ostrich egg.

It was raining in Stardew Valley, so when I left Willy's shop that afternoon I ended up on the beach with Sebastian, sharing an umbrella.

Gunther was happy with the last artifact, and I got my stardrop. The museum looks good.

I tried a bit of fishing and actually got the legend to bite - but lost it. It was too late to try again.

I collapsed in my living room because my cat was blocking the doorway to my bedroom.

On Sunday I went to the desert to combine two of Mr Qi's quests - the dangerous skull cavern run, and getting to level 100 for the snake milk. I found a Perfect Magic Quiver on floor 50, and that really helped. Fortunately I also found a few useful shafts, because I am still very low on staircases.

I got my Qi gems from the Walnut Room quest, and a lecture from Mr Q about stairs not being "honorable" I still wish I'd had more of them, though. I drank the snake milk and went down one more floor. There was a lot of iridium on that floor, but there were also at least three royal serpents that immediately ganged up on me, so I fled.

I had a good haul, though. Some mystery boxes, a cowboy hat, one prismatic shard, a few ores (including some more radioactive ores) and some assorted gems. There was an awesome prehistoric floor that I wish I could have tackled, but I didn't have the time for it. It would probably have clared the pepper rex goal in one fell swoop, though, it was packed wall to wall with rexes.

At home I harvested my first strawberries, and made (and used) a rain totem, because I'm tired of waiting for rainy days and I want that Legend.

Thursday was another day where almost everything Rowan did beyond watering plants and petting animals and working in the pottery was fish, fish, and fish. Of course, that casual dismissal of the day kind of erased the fact that if they did all their farm chores including all the foraging, and all the machine swapping, they rarely started fishing before 6 pm. There was a reason they were never bored despite spending all their time on the farm and private places without other people.

They DID end the day starting to scythe out the connecting island, with its mass of trees, but it turned out that without an axe and pickaxe on hand, they couldn't get far into the overgrown areas. And they should have brought an axe; they had several plans for buildings to ask Robin for on Saturday.

Friday was a trip to the mines, which after two prior failed attempts (one out of time at day's end, one due to the monsters), did finally get them to floor 105. It was otherwise not terribly exciting.

Saturday, they realised they had a problem: They needed to pick up some seeds only Harvey at the clinic* carried, and Harvey wasn't ever behind the counter on a Saturday. So, reluctantly, they put off the plan to visit town to Sunday.

That meant a fishing day. Which didn't net them the pufferfish that Demetrius had just requested, but did net them some huge fish, including, to their shock, the marlin Willy had joked about the summer before. HUGE fish, that, and hard. But they'd definitely get something good for bringing it to him.

They'd hoped to get their axe down among the trees on the other island, but ran out of time at day's end, and settled for a few off on the empty left wing of their own island. Enough, they hoped, to not have to buy the materials from Robin for the same project they wanted Robin to build...

Sunday turned out rainy. Which was perfect, really; they could skip out on going south on the island to deal with the plants, and all the animals were indoors, in easy reach. With the help of a huge triple shot of caffeine and some spicy food, they were going fast; they actually had everyone petted, the cows milked, and all the items they'd intended to take to town with them. And with a warp totem into the mountains, they were are Robin's door so early she wasn't quite open, and they dug some clay for the pottery around the mountain, then went in. Apparently they had ONCE AGAIN missed out on a dresser. (She'd had one the day before, they learned)** and asked for:
- the broken-down old shed to be rebuilt into a new shed in Robin's signature style
- an upgraded coop with some duck enclosures (and a way to keep an osprey so it didn't consider the other fowl more appealing than the fish it traditionally caught)
- a new non-mini shipping bin to go by the crop field
Ultimately, they did have to pay for some of the wood on top of the buildings but they considered that only fair. They also handed Robin the hardwood she'd been waiting for.

All that sounded like a lot, but took less time than they had feared, so they delivered the junimos the gold quality parsnips from spring and the tilapia they kept forgetting even though they had to be at Harvey's before noon.
They made it to Harvey by 11:30 and traded tea leaves rather than cash for the calendulas and lavender. Fortunately, one thing they were NOT short of was tea leaves. They handed him a coffee because he looked tired, only to have him perk up far more than they' expected, and sip carefully, with detailed comments about the flavour.

A pause at Pierre's, where they bought a few other seeds and gave him his sashimi request, a pause to give Evelyn a leek for her request (And a leek directly to George, and Rowan's last leftover tulip from Spring so Evelyn would know she was appreciated personally, and not just for errand running). Over to Clint to finally go through 3/4 of their geodes (they'd left a bunch of the plainest geodes at home, and brought mostly the ones that felt cold to the touch or pulsed with heat, and the ones that sparkled.) This took a while, and involved several pauses to sell Clint the less rare specimens, and several trips to fill the museum. They really didn't feel like sorting the collection today in particular, but their halfhearted rainbows would soon need to be rethought with all these new rocks. They earned a crystalarium for their trouble, though, which was a nice unplanned bonus. And the mystery boxes they did at the very end left them with a pile of speed-gro, which would be handy for their fancy seeds.

A pause at the bulletin board; they'd have a week to find a prismatic jelly, it seemed.

After that their biggest priority was Marnie's, so after another pause to down more espresso to hurry up their tired legs, they went off to the ranch, got themselves some new goats and another set of large important flowers and gave her the pink cake they'd made for her, then realised that if they hurried, they could actually get to the fish shop for once...

The fish shop, it seemed, was full to the brim with crabs. So, a bit reluctantly, they helped out with the cleanup, before finally handing Willy the Marlin. He exclaimed at it, and gave them a nice reward on the spot.

Unfortunately, Gus came in as well. The chit chat between the two men as they gathered crabs was friendly, cheerful, the conversation between two comfortable older men who'd known each other a while. But they kept trying to include Rowan, who would have been content to listen quietly. It hit the point where they knew they had to head home.***

At least that meant it was early enough they could dig and plant the flowers they were hoping would turn giant on them, and even pause in the pottery, before bed.

* obviously from a mod. Harvey sells 3 plants with possible medicinal properties, one of which is heavily poisonous if mishandled.
** I actually tried to do the trip on Saturday and closed without saving and restarted the game when I realised Harvey wasn't ever at his desk on Saturdays. And on the Saturday trip, I had managed to finally buy a dresser. I decided I was NOT going to restart again at this further delay.
***Rowan's limit on speaking to people in town is 12. Gus, in the cutscene was #13 because they'd talked to Leah and Caroline as well.

Did about a week of chores - wine harvest, lots of jelly, though I missed the GI honey harvest so that timeframe got delayed by a day. I did remember to go to the night market and get a stone owl (the bought kind, not the event kind) for my statue garden at the mine entrance. I'm sort of gearing up for posting my best/most developed farm on the showcase ... it's not super-crazy-decades-game-years or anything, but some parts of it I like a lot 😁.

This is my current slime population. I rather love them, even though they try to attack me whenever I walk by 😅.

On Monday I tried for the Legend. It was a lot of wating, I caught a lot of carp - but in the end I did get it. Now I should have all the fish.
The bulletin board quest was to ship 100 garlic in 21 days. Should be do-able.

Tuesday I got Willy's starfruit in the mail. I wanted to make a start with the 100 garlic bulbs, so I went to the grocery store to buy 100 or so seed packets. On my way there I saw Alex heading to the beach - to Ginger Island I assume - and I decided to follow him and get that cut-scene out of the way, too. I think I have seen all the major scenes now.

I bought my 100 garlic seeds and planted the first 20 or so. Then I went to Willy's shop to go to the island. I removed the mussel stone that was blocking my banana tree, and went looking for cinder shards. I did go home in the evening.

Wednesday I checked Queen of Sauce for the last time, to make sure I had everything. Or maybe it was just nostalgia...

I watered my crops, looked for iron ore for Clint, looked for leeks for George (Evelyn's quest) and decided to just put some of the leeks I alraedy had stored into Evelyn's fridge. I now only need to find 6 more to get the quest completed. I have another two weeks to do it, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I went to Ginger Island - finally remembering to bring 10 diamonds. I talked to the golden parrot, who needs 100,000 gold to get the remaining walnuts - so I guess I still need ten. Three of those are the banana shrine, one is the journal, 3 are the darts game. I don't know where the last 3 are, but I assume the mines.
I made my way to the dwarf's floor and bought his book. I gathered some iridium ore and a few cinder shards on the way. I moved on one more floor, to see whether I could find more dragon teeth. I did not, but I did get the next journal scrap. This is the one with the walnut and the ostrich egg - one more to go, but it's not an important one.
I gathered my ostrich egg and the walnut. And then it was 1:00 am, so I took the parrot express to the farm to go to sleep.

The next two days II looked for cinder shards, went to the farm to water the plants, filled the cheese and mayo machines. Then back to the island to find cinder shards.
I ran into Leo and gave him a feather - and suddenly found myself on the dock with him, Linus and Willy. I told him he had to make up his own mind about moving to Pelican Town, and he decided to go.

Saturday was the Egg Festival. I first hunted for some leeks for George, I only found one. And I found a skeletal hand. I'll probably find one every week now - sometimes I think this game is intentionally messing with me!
I watered my crops, planted more garlic and then went to the egg hunt at the last minute. I only talked to Leo, because it was his first egg hunt. He thought it was weird, but at least these eggs didn't belong to his family, so he guessed it was OK.
I bought 56 strawberry seeds for next year. Decided not to go for any of the decor. Won the hunt and got my prize ticket.

On Sunday I claimed Fishing Mastery. Four down, one to go.

Local Legend
Started the day with a decent harvest of random stuff that happened to grow overnight. Planted some potatoes and wild seeds. Tossed fire quartz into my lava eel pond and made a dozen of tea saplings to sell, I have over a stack of summer seeds alone, but fiber's running low, need to plant some fiber seeds. Except I don't remember if I have the recipe. Would be nice if I did.
While smelting the last of my iridium ore, I realized I have a ton of other ores and almost no bars, so there's more smelting to come + made more bombs and mega bombs. While at the workbench, made some bait + some stuff I had no idea I already had the recipe for.
Bought 5 rare seeds from the traveling cart and spent the rest of the day fishing&smoking whatever I catch. Overnight got a nice sum of 1800 g.

One day further along in the game. Mushroom harvest, fairy rose honey harvest, working on smoking 136 lobsters when I only have 4 smokers, little things like that.

In the fanfic, blackberry season has ended, and Erica has a few days ahead of her being busy with special order business. Well, actually a bunch of busy weeks if she really thought about it.

This week was the Desert Festival. I managed to complete all three of Marlon's challenges, caught three sandfish for Willy, and used the Chef's food combined with some lobster bisque from my own kitchen to get up to fishing level 16 so I could rush back home to fish the iridium Krobus out of the river.

On Thursday I looked for quests. Mr Qi had two that I didn't like - the dangerous skull cavern I'd already done, and the Qi's Cuisine quest, which I don't feel like doing. The town bulletin board had Robin's Resource Quest, so I started on collecting 1000 wood.

In the meantime I found the last leeks I needed for Evelyn's quest, and on Wednesday I shipped the last garlic to complete the Shipping Quest. Zuzu City has nothing more to fear from vampires...

On Friday I tried to feed the trash bear, but got stumped at the third request. Trash bear wanted cranberry candy, and I forgot to save apples for it. I finished Robin's Quest, and now I have an empty journal for the very first time.

I spent the weekend playing around with my new lay-out of the Ginger Island farm - even though I don't have the sprinklers or the pressure nozzles yet.

Last week of Spring.

I spent the entire Monday taking care of the poor, neglected animals. The next day I went looking for dragon teeth and cinder shards. I now have 10 dragon teeth. I plan to save up for the Island obelisk before doing any other upgrades. I need the bananas and about 100,000 gold.

I went to the Flower Dance but didn't dance with anyone. Only talked to Linus and Leo. And Lewis, because he needs to start the dance so I can get out of there.

I brought more gifts to Leo, who is the only villager I have to get up to 10 hearts now.

I did a lot of cooking. I'm waiting for my first harvest of bananas and pineapples for two recipes. I also need eel (to make spicy eel - I have a dozen of them, but all of them were monster drops) and of course that dratted apple I need for my cranberry candy.
I think with only four recipes to go I no longer have to stress about cooking, it will take care of itself. (Still kicking myself for not storing some apples, though.)

I'm glad I made that rain totem earlier, because it didn't rain again until the very last weekend of spring. Demetrius had a river fishing quest on the board, so I took that and fished mostly catfish and shad until the late afternoon, when I went looking for an eel in the ocean.
Only managed to catch one single eel, but in the end that's all I need for now.

My ostrich grew up, and because I'd given it a cracker when it was still a baby, I immediately had two eggs. Put one in the incubator and shipped the other. Now I only need to ship a banana and a pineapple.

I spent the last few days of Spring just gathering resources.

After the trip to town, Monday started with petting all the brand new goats, doign some pottery, and carefully adding in the sprinklers for the flower patch for potential giant crops. Then, as wandering the farm to clean up forage, Rowan finally noticed there were enough woodskip in the pond to give to the soot sprite in the cave to finally upgrade their axe,* and in fact, they also had all the items on their list for the pickaxe, as well. This was more than enough to celebrate in a day. Though they did end it by snagging a couple of rainbow trout from the fishpond to put into the bait maker. It was a couple of weeks before the trout derby, but still.

Tuesday, they planned to test their axe by clearing out at least a walkable path on the island to the south, but on an impulse, threw a couple of fishing casts into the east side of their home island, since they needed one more red rock crab* for Willy's request, and after helping him with clearing out the crab pot crabs from his shack, and carrying them to Gus's kitchen, they felt like they owed it to him to bring him three nice live crabs to make up for all the cooked ones, even if they were a whole different species.

Something snagged the line that was moving fast; at first they thought it had to be another marlin. On seeing a flash of red, they thought it might be one of the rock crabs, though they'd never been THIS tough. But instead, they pulled out a strange red fish... almost crimson...**

They stared at it for a while because it made no sense. Yes, Willy had mentioned some legendary fish, and the library mentioned a crimson one at the east of the beach... but the east of the beach was far east from even this side of the farm.

They quickly dropped it in the saltwater fishtank, exchanging it for the common squid. If they got up the nerve, they could get Willy to confirm this was that special fish and not some other red fish, as he had the angler they'd pulled from the river near town, though Rowan knew all the common red-hued ocean fish very well indeed, and indeed had pulled out a mullet not long before. If nothing else, it was pretty.

They managed to get to the other island and chop a bit after dark, only to end up so tired they didn't remember how they got back to bed.

The next day, after checking their new coop was in good shape, a bunch of the vegetables came ripe and they needed to re-seed (And the new shipping bin was already proving its worth. It also came with a letter in the mail saying the next day was some kind of luau party on the beach. They considered the idea of going out, and dancing in front of other people to tropical music, for about 5 seconds before reality reasserted itself and they knew that far from letting loose on the dance floor, they'd end up hiding behind Elliott's shack having a panic attack at so many people. Someone would notice - with their luck someone rude and judgy like Shane or that wizard, not someone discreet like Marlon or Linus - and that would ruin the whole event for everyone.

So that was a big nope.

They realised they'd been so surprised by unexpected Crimsonfish the day before that they'd never stopped in the pottery, so they went in today, and threw a bunch of new mugs***, and mixed up some clay, before they finally went to the south island, and chopped and chopped a bunch of trees and saplings, until there was a bit of space to walk. They even got to bed, or at least inside the house, with time to spare.

*mod.
** I mentioned before that the fishing on this particular farm mod is a bit messed up, but I didn't expect this until I saw that wee crown in the minigame ... I usually fish the west side of the map because that's where the longer path is, and where the current crops are, and must not have hit this side in the first summer?
*** I'd say this mirrored real life, but this morning's throwing resulted in a tumbler and a bowl, so... not quite.
