Made my day once again, what a daydreamingFor some reason when I read 'gridball' I conjure up a mental image of foosball, with the players are arranged on gridlines so it ends up being a kind of fixed-in-place (non-American) football played all over the Ferngill Republic. And the reason Shane doesnt play any more is he sustained a shoulder injury trying to hang onto the metal bar while stretching for the ball with his body and damaged his rotator cuff. Those are the real gridball injuries, not those pesky ACLs.
But something like that already exists, it's called "Human soccer". I never played it myself, but it's very funny to look at... I've never heard of blood bowl until now (may be me being too young), but I looked it up and I could honestly imagine it as the semi-violent, rugby-adjacent sport, especially since we only get to see the edge of the field, but it looks like a slightly pitted wall of tall concrete... Not exactly what you'd expect from a gentle non contact sportI just imagine it to be like Blood Bowl but with less bodily injury, and a similar lack of rules.
