Are there any official rules for Gridball out there? If not, are there any unofficial ideas or theories anyone here has about the rules because I am very curious!

For some reason when I read 'gridball' I conjure up a mental image of foosball, with the players are arranged on gridlines so it ends up being a kind of fixed-in-place (non-American) football played all over the Ferngill Republic. And the reason Shane doesnt play any more is he sustained a shoulder injury trying to hang onto the metal bar while stretching for the ball with his body and damaged his rotator cuff. Those are the real gridball injuries, not those pesky ACLs.

Made my day once again, what a daydreaming 😂 But something like that already exists, it's called "Human soccer". I never played it myself, but it's very funny to look at...

And yeah, I also think, that gridball ist very similar to American Football. Just see the ball Alex is playing with.

I’ve never seen any official Gridball rules, so I just treated it like a goofy mix of grid‑based tactics and arcade sports and made up house rules with friends. Funny enough, I’ve used https://rubiscore.com/ to track real football stats, and borrowing ideas like player roles or zones from real matches actually helped me sketch out some Gridball mechanics that feel believable without clashing with Stardew’s vibe

I just imagine it to be like Blood Bowl but with less bodily injury, and a similar lack of rules.
I've never heard of blood bowl until now (may be me being too young), but I looked it up and I could honestly imagine it as the semi-violent, rugby-adjacent sport, especially since we only get to see the edge of the field, but it looks like a slightly pitted wall of tall concrete... Not exactly what you'd expect from a gentle non contact sport
