IDK, Possibly like space/exploration games, or fighting games, for me each game fills a little niche, like minecraft for building, terraria for really hard boss fights, etc

There's a really good playthrough by Seanie Dew I recommend you watch. Just stop like halfway so you don't get spoiled.

I was on PS4 and stopped playing when Frontier pulled the plug on support/updates, so a Mandalay is not in my wheelhouse.
My main ships:
Explorer - DBX/Krait Phantom (my 'current' one)
Combat - Corvette/FDL
Mining - Cutter (laser) Clipper (cores)
Jack of all trades - Krait Mk II

The DBX is pretty good, though I think a bit worse than ASP

Mine was great - first ship I took to Sag A* & back to the bubble.
Never liked either Asp as much - the internal storage was all wrong (the Phantom's probably objectively better than either).

and the conda is better than them, and the mandalay is better than the conda

If exploring = jump range, then yes.
But the conda is ugly and a pig to fly. Mandalay looks good though.
