Lava Eels

I had a horrible thought about lava eels earlier. I hope that no one is killing and smoking them. Lava eels are sentient. Smoking them would be like raising dogs & cats for slaughter. Considering that other farm animals are not raised for meat, shouldn’t the same courtesy be extended to lava eels.

Personally, I find them far friendlier and more polite than the villagers.

Seeing as lava is typically at a temperature of about 1000°C and a meat smoker at only 120°C, I think the Lava Eels are probably more concerned with freezing to death in the frigid smoker than any direct effects of the machine itself. I'd recommend placing the whole lot next to a fireplace or maybe between 2 Industrial Forges just to keep them comfortable while they don velvety Smoking Jackets and exchange social pleasantries.

I'll never not be amused that the only animals you can eat are the only ones that talk. Maybe fish ponds have a fish-to-human translator built-in somewhere.

Reminds me of an older, almost identical thread, on octopi. They are sentient, they taste better!

Do you also have a scientific explanation for fishing up a perfectly fine and totally not on fire wooden stick from a boiling pool of lava? That's a headscratcher

Plus they make crazy good back up cash in fish ponds, especially after you toss in a golden cracker.
