You can only pick one!

Well, it's difficult to answer: the image you've posted is missing some known NPCs, like Birdie or the Bouncer for instance, while it shows one that is unknown to me (the one between George and Dwarf).

Moreover, all NPCs are not on the same level. Some sound interesting, but could easily be replaced by some kind of door with a key (like the Bouncer or the Goblin). Some others are disliked by many in the community (like Lewis or Pierre) but take a central place in the game.

If I was to pick one NPC to remove, it would be Fizz: having a Joja representative on Ginger Island sounds too much like a corruption to me. Surely, there are others way to achieve perfection than bribing with Joja.

It’s Krobus in disguise when you invite him to the cinema.

I would pick Prof. Snail. What kind of professor is he? If he has university funding, why didn’t he bring some grad students to do the hard work? Is he an impostor or just a fool? What was he doing in the cave? Why does he never leave his tent? Shouldn’t the exhibition be in a museum somewhere?

Yeah he should have been put on mainland. And if you use his services, or reach perfection on your own he should disappear. I also HATE the positioning of the Joja bird for golden walnuts. That’s Leo’s favorite spot 🙁🙁🙁, seems almost disrespectful to him. Plus once you use the bird, or find the walnuts he’s still there. Very tacky.

The person I’d vote off the game is Mr Qi. I cant stand that horrid man.

From the ones shown in that cool graphic, I'd go with Ereo and say Professor Snail as he's like Gunther but less useful, and that's no good. Gets trapped in a cave where you can find exactly zero of the things he's looking for, even though he knows enough to give you hints about where all the things are. Seriously, he should have grad students or conscripted undergrads to do that busywork. I did work like that as an undergrad and it was a blast! Best time of my life and I look back fondly. Get a darn uni-peon and make their whole summer come alive.

However I agree 1000% with both nicodeux about Fizz and stardew_luv about Mr. Qi. I dislike both intensly, but at least Mr. Qi moves the game along and provides shiny trinkets for me to temporarily fixate on, like the Hossfloot and the super big aquariums! But that huckster Fizz, he can leave right now. I always make a point of eating a
Bean Hotpot when visiting the cave to scrounge for Purpleshrooms, and lingering in there just long enough to... well you know what for. :skull:

Lewis. I honestly cannot stand that filthy, old coot. Especially for his stance on his very own affair with Marnie and how he imposes on her, without even the tiniest hint of recognition&respect... Couple that with his huge egomania, conceited&vainglorious personality and there you have it. Or his horrible treatment towards the entire community, if you drop pants inside Luau pot...

I strongly dislike him too. I just don't understand why Lewis keeps (or tries to keep) his affair with Marnie a secret. No one in the village would care and I don't see how it could undermine his position as mayor at all as Marnie is a respected member of the community. But he also shouldn't make his position as mayor more important than Marnie.

That said, I do think that he plays an important part in the game but he could be replaced as mayor by another character. I think Gus would make a perfect mayor myself.

Of the NPCs you included, just logically speaking there are only really a couple options that don't take significant content and context away from the game. I'm sorry but it definitely comes down to gunther/marlon/morris, all only really function as vendors with a couple appearances in cutscenes and festivals.

Out of those, Morris has the biggest part in advancing the plot and having an opposition to work we do on the community center or as a maniacal sort of boss if you side with him, and Gunther fills a role that would need someone like him to fill (defeating the purpose). Marlon being removed unfortunately wouldn't affect much, Gil already exists and being an adventurers guild, it could just operate in the same way the witch hut does, with the guild master or whatnot always being too busy protecting the valley to be in the shop.
