Switch Drought. Possible bug?

I started a new medowlands farm on the switch I'm currently on day 18 of summer year one and have only had one non-scripted rainy day so far.

I selected the remixed bundles and first year completeable community center.

The one day of rain I had was a storm the day before the green rain event and may have been forced to give me an opportunity to get a battery for one of the bundles.

Otherwise no real issues aside from a bit of minor lag/stutter.

Hmm... I've seen droughts before, and I don't think they where bugs, but this might be. I mean, if more people are having this problem, than it's fairly likely it's a bug.
I personally think it's just bad luck, but I don't really have any special credibility, so I don't really know.

Looking on the sub-reddit it looks like a few people have had the same issue, but it doesn't seem to common issue.

I'm reaching a point where I don't think I'll be able to get the community center finished year one due to lack of rainy day fish, batteries and artifact spots (need ancient fruit for a bundle And haven't had much luck in the mine). It's not the end of the world but I haven't really played since 1.3 so I'm very egar to experience all the new stuff.

I'm also struggling with finding artifacts for the museum, upgrading my tools, collecting certain resources and I'm starting to to worry that I won't be able to access ginger Island at all if I don't get more rain.

Until this gets fixed, I recommend just starting a new save so that you'll be able to get a good experience for your first game in a long time.

I’m experiencing the same issue. I’m on fall day 22 and it’s only rained twice in my year. 😭 it hasn’t rained at all in fall and I need this catfish for the community center bundle.

I had a couple rain days in Spring, nearly a week's straight rain in Summer, but then a completely dry Fall. I could not complete the Community Center as I needed a gold quality Walleye. I've never seen a season without rain in all my years playing so I am assuming this is a bug or at least bug-adjacent. Time to raise some pigs and craft some Rain Totems I guess! Platform: Switch. New save started after the update. (I am also seeing the reported Wall of Fall and no sounds are coming from my Bombs.)

Update: I have now played through an entire Year 2 Spring and part of Summer with no more rain except for Spring 3. How long 'til the villagers start to notice??

Update, update: I got a thunderstorm the day after my Green Rain Day! So, my drought lasted 1 week short of a whole year.

My friend and I both play on Switch and were complaining about this yesterday. Just got to Fall day 27 still with only the Spring day 3 rain, a storm right before the green rain event, and then the green rain. I've been playing since the original release date and have never had this level of drought :(

On the Meadowlands farm, single player, regular bundles and all other options default (cause I forgot to even look lol)

Also Switch, Meadowlands farm, single player, regular bundles and all other options default.
Version : 1.6.9 build 36

A completely dry Spring save for the scripted Spring 3.

Edit:
After several tries
  • It happens on all farms
  • The problem doesn't appear and rainy day happen if I turn on Legacy randomization
It seems there's something funky in the new RNG.

Edit 2:
After twenty tries
  • 10 Springs with a new farm :
    • 4 Farms with 1 rainy day (Spring 3)
    • 2 Farms with 2-3 rainy days
    • 3 Farms with 4-6 rainy days
    • 1 Farm with 8 rainy days !
  • 10 Springs with a new farm with Legacy Randomization option
    • 10 Farms with 4-6 rainy days.
Seems like the new RNG can create more outliers seeds than the Legacy one (admittedly, I'm nowhere near enough test cases to affirm that with certainty and I would expect some cases out of the target bucket in LR, but unfortunately it takes time), but I do feel that, currently, the new RNG (at least on Switch) isn't completely within specs when it comes to weather.

Same issue here. Also Switch 1.6.9, meadowlands, non legacy rng. Also stuck in a drought as of summer 12 year 1.

I would like to add that at least in my experience, it isn't just rain. I haven't gotten any windy days either. Every day has either been clear and sunny or scripted otherwise.

I just started my first 1.6 game on the switch and I'm having this bug too. I'm in the first week of year 1 summer and the only rainy days I've had are the guaranteed one on Spring 3 and the green rain in Summer...

I am on Xbox. Started a new meadowlands farm, default option. Had only the spring day 3 rain. It is now summer day 2, and no rain. I luckily caught a catfish that day 3. But haven't had much time in the mines and haven't been able to upgrade any tools.

I got quite a few windy days. I even had 2 fairies appear to instagrow my first batch of turnips and then my first batch of potatoes. It was an epic start.

But then ... No rain...

I will likely start over, but select the legacy RNG.

I'm quite busy, and had finally had a free weekend to play this new update. I've been looking forward to it. But now I feel like my weekend was wasted.

I hope my post helps to provide some data for other players and the devs.

Same issue here, Switch 1.6.9. No rainy days at all other than the scripted ones and one thunderstorm in summer. I’m on fall 18. Can’t upgrade my watering can, can’t go mining, can’t catch rainy day fish, and it’s getting really frustrating.

I started a new medowlands farm on the switch too I'm currently on day 9 of summer year one and have only had the 3rd of spring rain.

I selected the remixed bundles and first year completeable community center.

Having the same issue as OP.
Currently on my second 1.6.9 Meadowlands Farm, both runs have been fresh starts and given me a rainless Spring other than scripted Spring 3, and a dry summer aside from 1 thunderstorm in only one of the two saves. I'll try a third with LR. It's definitely Switch specific though. I've got a couple 1.6 saves on my computer and none of them had this happen.

Went through an entire Fall that had no rain, which is a very bad thing for those who go for the community center bundles (which I do all the time). Had to restart my save because I'm not waiting until next year to get a Walleye. So this is a bug? Guess I won't be playing this game until this gets fixed.

I thought it was a bug as I did not get any rain other than spring day 3 and green rain. However end of summer (after day 20 i think) I got a few rainy days and regular rain over fall.
Not sure if a bug but first save where it took so long to get rain

On switch, version 1.6.9

I am also having this issue! No rain except the one scripted day. On switch 1.6.9. Even rain dances aren't helping! 😭

Also using meadowlands farm!
