1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

Welp, that was fun! I prepped for the Trout Derby, slept over and over until Saturday, Summer 20th, and caught as many Golden Tags as I could. (Note that I didn't allow myself to pass out and save the game, in case I want to replay the day.)

I don't know if I did good or not, since I have nothing to compare it with, but I got...
58! :D

I guess I'll just let that record stand until somebody beats it.

I have questions though. Where's the best place to fish for Rainbow Trout? Is it better if it's raining or no? Does luck play a factor at all?

Anyway, looking forward to anybody surpassing me, so that I can try some more! ^.^

This time, it was Maru who shook Rowan awake at the entry to the cave. That was lucky as it was, she'd been at the luau all day, like everyone else, as evidenced by the fact she still had sand in her hair. Which Rowan kind of wanted to brush away, but touching people without asking was just rude, and asking - their face heated up.

Rowan kind of remembered getting a face full of slime at the wrong moment and taking a shot from a big brute that they knew would have them passing out, and bolting for the climb up so the monsters wouldn't finish them off... and nothing after that. Maru did say she'd found them unconscious pretty high up, And apologized for doing such a bad job patching them up. She might be a nurse, she pointed out, but had no first aid kit with her. "I don't go far enough down I would need one."

Rowan thought, grimly, they shouldn't need one this often, either. They'd had potions on hand. They drank one down, even knowing it was a waste. It was after 10, it would be silly to go back down...

And it turned out that, while their bag was intact this time, they'd dropped their sword.

Okay, maybe not dropped, that was the wrong word. They were pretty sure they'd left the blade IN the big brute, stuck in its side, at the same moment it did for them.

They'd picked up a dagger while exploring, thinking it might be nice to trade in to the adventurer's guild (of course Marlon drove a ridiculously hard bargain and Rowan wasn't generally up to real haggling and let him, but even 150 gold was more than 0), but on inspection, it was considerably shoddier make than the obsidian blade they'd had. Maybe it would help against skeletons or the giant moths, but it was certainly not good enough for digging around in those deep levels.

And normally, they wouldn't be back to the mountain for another week. Tomorrow was the Cindersap visit, to get some ducks for the expanded coop, and check with the merchant. So they'd have to take a whole week of mining, and give up on the prismatic slime.

They considered briefly which was scarier: going out of their way to ask Marlon to fetch the sword back, or explaining to the wizard why they couldn't finish the quest they'd signed on to personally.

No question. Marlon could literally take Rowan apart blindfolded and with one hand tied behind his back, but he was polite. The wizard was cold and rude an there was that look in his eyes.

Never mind. The mountain was... well honestly it was totally the wrong direction from Cindersap, but they could grab a minecart and get there without much more work than it would take to see the wizard. And it would be a lot less terrifying.

I thought it might be nice to have a place where people can report on their farm's goings-on and the adventures of their farmer, kind of like this thread at The Sims forums. I'll kick things off!


I am still very new to the game and in mid-summer of my second year at Peacefield Farm. In the first year, I was able to learn the basics of the game, and start becoming marginally successful: by the end I was selling honey, mayonnaise, maple syrup, and jams in addition to regular crops. I also used the winter to (mostly) change my fields to be oriented around sprinklers. My goals for year two were multiple: one, get to the bottom of the mines (I'd gone from 1 to 105 in winter alone): two, expand the house; three, build more farm infrastructure like a stable, a barn, and a silo; and four, tackle the overgrowth on my little islands and expand my fields. As of this morning (Summer 15) things are going well on those fronts! I got to the bottom of the mines almost immediately, and have built a barn and filled it with four cows. I also just expanded the house, so now I can start crafting food! I had a bunch of rain days in the early summer, so I used those to attack the big island and have created a larger field there. I'm also using the little strip of land just north of the road that goes to Marnie's as an orchard. My immediate plan is to explore cooking. Farmwise, my plans are to get a silo so I don't have to plant so much wheat or buy hay from Marnie; expand the coop so I can get duck eggs; continue harvesting hardwood for a stable; and continue expanding on the second island. I want the silo first because there's a lot of grass on the big island that I don't want to waste.

I mined and smelted 100 gold bars (with the help of my wife)!! Now I can upgrade my house and build my dream bedroom

I went to the Stardew Valley Fair!

I’m not very good at the shooting game, so I played the fishing game instead and earned some Star Tokens!

I also had my fortune told. The fortune teller always ends by saying that I’ll be harvesting melons, so I feel like I have to grow some melons now to live up to her expectations!

In Japan, melons are usually associated with green, so when I first started playing, I thought the pink melons in Stardew Valley were huge peaches!

Finally, I got a Stardrop, so I went home feeling like Mario: “YAHOO!”

On Monday night I heard the owl sound, but once again found no statue. I don't have any owl statues yet, although I do hear the sound every now and then. I guess the game can't find an open space quickly enough?

That's weird, I don't remember it ever happening to me. Or might be that I don't particularly care about the statues, so I don't go looking for them, I just wait to stumble into one when doing other farmstuff.

I played around with the sewing machine. I never really did that before. It's fun, I think I will have to start saving some of my cloth to play with...

When I first discovered it all my cloth would go into tailoring and I'd get upset because I didn't have that much. It is really fun!

Same! I always get a lot more tokens from fishing than anything else, so that's my go-to on the fair.

So Winter is here. I planted a few powder melons, I don't really have a lot. Planted a ton of starfruit on Ginger Island.
I tried to work on my monster slaying goals: pepper rexes, serpents and mummies. Didn't find a prehistoric floor, but did come acros two pepper rexes on other floors. I did kill a lot of serpents, though - they kept swarming me.
Mr Qi had another prismatic quest, and another legendary fish quest. Neither is worth much, and both are a lot of hassle right now.

I planted a row of mystic trees on my farm, and a row of hardwood trees on Ginger Island.

In the second week I went to the Festival of Ice and this time I won it, so I finally have the cool sailor hat. I got the Good Neighbours achievement when I went into the forest to go to the festival. It was just the pop-up, the whole dance of the raccoon family came a day later.
I planted the rest of my mahogany seeds in the quarry and fertilzed them all so they can grow during the winter.

I bought two more sheep. Skipped Squid Fest and went to the Skull Cavern instead. Completed the mummy slaying goal, and I'm now down to 84 serpents and 8 pepper rexes according to Marlon's list. One of the monsters dropped a galaxy soul. So now I only need one more.

I asked Robin to build me a mill.

In week 3 I went to the Night Market and purchased the missing rat/mouse rarecrow. I chopped down my mahogany trees on Ginger Island and planted a new row with the fallen seeds.
The next morning I got the Deluxe Scarecrow recipe at last. I couldn't make it, because I lacked the fiber. And to add insult to injury, a crow appeared the next morning and actually ate one of my fiber plants.

Mr Qi had a Hungry Challenge. The other one was Junimo Kart, which is harder and worth less. Demetrius wanted me to fix the lake biome. It was either that or catch 10 perches. I went down to the mines to get hardwood and fiber there.
I got enough to make the scarecrow, so I have now done all the crafting recipes.

Ditto! Maybe it's because I play on mobile, but I can't really use the slingshot hardly at all. So I don't, except to get that one walnut. But the fishing, that I can get quite a few tokens, depending on how many dang catfish it decides to throw at me...

Maybe it's behind a building or a tree? I know I've found a few behind a barn or a shed long after I've forgotten that I heard the sound.

Kate's running around doing chores waiting for the next Winter Star to hopefully get a tea set. I might have to wait until year 25 ... sigh, not even halfway there yet.

Fran just got perfection, with possibly the least-developed farm yet. I'm not particularly taken with the Wilderness farm, I don't think I'll spend a lot of time decorating this one. I wish Fran could gift Kate her tea set...

I realised I forgot the very end of Rowan's not so great night: after they were in bed, in the dark, they saw an eerie glow zoom across the farm, and pause over the coop. Someone let out a malicious cackle, then the glow soared off.

They mostly covered their head and pretended it was a nightmare so as to be able to sleep (Suzuchka at least cuddled up like a good cat, or possibly a fraidy one) , but they will be sure to check on the chickens and hedgehogs and the coop as early as possible...

Kate finally got the last properly-colored fairy rose in her indoor flower garden!!! WOO! Now there is only one blue jazz to go before it's finished (that is if I've truly got the last three colors right ... they're so close to the same color that it's difficult to tell them apart, but I do think they're all correct... I decided color was enough and I don't care which way they are facing)

Hi, I'm back from a long break.

I did a lot on my farm, way too much to remember from the last time I played. I'm making decent money on the farm for the obelisks (I downloaded a mod to get rid of that stupid lake in the wilderness farm), befriended most of the villagers, got Emily's special outfit, caught almost every fish (except The Legend), and I'm just trying to inch my way towards perfection.

Also, here's what my hat collection looks like this far:

On Thursday I went into the Skull Cavern. I managed to kill the last pepper rexes I needed, and I made it to floor 100 to collect my Qi gems. Came home with a few prismatic shards and over 270 iridium ores.

So on Friday I had to take care of my neglected animals. They were all looking thin and angry. I decided to have Robin upgrade my barn again, because I need that auto-feeder. I keep forgetting to feed the poor things by hand...
I didn't have enough building materials, though - so I went to the desert to kill some more serpents while gathering stone.

So on Saturday I did go down to Robin to get my barn upgraded. I also bought a piglet from Marnie and called it HenWen.

Marlon's list tells me I only have 32 serpents left to kill. Side effect of killing them is that I can earn enough void essences to get the void ghost pendant. My only other source for them are shadow snipers in the dangerous mines, and I prefer the serpents. So I spent the afternoon and evening killing more serpents in the Skull Cavern.

The next day I took care of my animals, loaded up all the machines and went out to the lake to take care of the lake fishing quest. I mostly caught lingcod and sturgeon, so it was a bit of a work-out.
When I checked Marlon's list, I saw that I only needed to kill five more serpents, so I once again spent the evening in the Skull Cavern. Of course they didn't want to show, so it took me hours to get to five. I've had games where I had six or seven on one floor, but now that I need them they were in hiding. Typical.

And then it's the last week of winter already. I've acomplished all of my goals, so all I need now is the expensive buildings from the wizard, and the last stardrop. But what I actually want first is the statue of endless fortune, the return sceptre and a few furniture catalogs. I'm in no hurry to get to that summit.

Had 3 fun days at the desert festival, got enough calico eggs for everything I wanted — just some decorations from villagers and the rest was spent on hats.
Found a duck egg in the Travelling Cart, which was huge, but then I had to restart a game a couple times and I think I forgot to buy it again. Oh well. Or I just forgot in which chest I put it, will have to look through it later.
Got my cactus and this silly outfit:

In the caverns found a big dino floor too, no clue how many I still need for the eradication goal, but it was nice anyway. Answered all the questions correctly, they really aren't hard, its just that the steps one is pure luck. Guessed it on the second day.
Before the festival been harvesting whatever happened to grow and replacing it with wild spring seeds — I need leeks for Evelyn's quest. Found two of those on the 18th when I went around foraging and gifting. I actually forgot about Pam's Birthday, gave her a parsnip and she surprised me with the bday dialogue. First villager to reach 10 hearts.
I don't really need salmonberries now, but gathered them for Qi quests in the far future. My lava eels started producing roe - nice to see the colour change and some money coming in.
