1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

  • Completed the museum collection with dolomite, which got me the very last :stardrop: (and unlocked a Steam achievement).
  • Found a copy of 'Treasure Appraisal Guide', for the first time ever, which unlocked another Steam achievement.
  • Completed the "Let's Play a Game" quest, which was an easy 20 gems (that I used to get the Key To The Town).
  • Found an Ostrich Egg, which is now incubating.
  • Bought the final Obelisk (Beach).
  • Put a Void Salmon in a pond for a chance to get a Void Egg (which I need to cook a Strange Bun). I don't want to buy items when there is an alternative, even if said alternative is time-consuming and highly RNG. Apparently, there is a good chance my plan will backfire, as the fish may request a Void Egg before they reach the population where they can produce them. Oh well... maybe I'll get lucky and they'll want a diamond instead.
It's the second half of summer, year 4.

Didn't win the ice fishing competition, and didn't bother to restart the day.

Got my first full stack of dried purple mushrooms. Still got them in storage. Might've gone full on hoarder in this save. Added 33 kegs to Ginger Island, and the farmhouse there is now more like a brewery with a bed and a kitchenette.

Took on Qi's Cuisine, and did some work towards the Gourmet Chef achievement while I was busy in the kitchen. Didn't get the achievement as I ran out of sugar before running out of recipes I needed it for. The sashimi from mussels and periwinkles was the big earner, outweighing even the 100 triple shot espresso. I'd gathered over 500 mussels from the shores of Ginger Island while waiting for this quest. Thanks to the prep work, I finished the quest in 2 days, including the one where I took it on. Bought the final piece needed for the Infinite Power acheivement and forged it onto my weapon.

I'm trying to remember to visit the statue of blessings before saying hello to my child, in case I get the friendship blessing.

Got a third mystic stone in the quarry. Now I'm almost set for the quest to gather 4 prismatic shards.

Yesterday I finally started a new farm and this time I'm trying the beach map with remixed bundles for CC and remixed loot in the mines. Let's see, how this goes on, making money is the point at the moment. Fishing goes quite good this time, whole new experience with a training rod working 😁 And my farmer is male now, so I'm going to see all the girls 10-hearts- Events for the first time 😇 A lot of first times at the beach...

I forgot to post this yesterday, so here's what happened yesterday: I got scammed by the raccoons. This reward was NOT worth dried purple mushrooms and five eggs.

Edit: I can't believe I forgot to add that I finally gained access to the casino, for the first time ever in 900+ hours.
For in-game years I had been stuck on the sand dragon, but last night my spouse noticed something about the wording that had gone unnoticed before, had an idea, and was right.
I don't think much of the place, though.

Took the submarine to go fishing for seaweed all 3 days of the night market, and now I've got enough for 6 more ponds. Got all the Lupini paintings, so now I've got the full set of 9. Going for treasure chests gave me a few golden animal crackers, but two of them went to my rabbits.

Then I got a good luck day, combined with a luck blessing and an easier to find stairs blessing. Went down the Skull Cavern. Found crap treasure the first time around, so I reset the day, and got my first Auto-Petter for this save! Into the coop it went so I won't have to bother searching for them in the grass when Spring arrives. Two more and I'll be able to make another coop or barn. I should clear normal grass from a few more areas and put down blue grass starters, now that the animals have made room in the silos. Then in Spring, I'll have to try to ensure only blue grass grows in the areas where it's been planted.

Rugrat has become a toddler, so I put a helmet on him. The farmer might not be around to see it, but I expect the toddlers to hit their heads at various points when running around, since irl toddlers do. Now to see how soon Abigail wants to adopt a daughter.

I agree. Definitely not a suitable reward from the raccoons. But it also reveals that you've never shipped any of your sap, or you wouldn't have been given one.

I agree that the casino is a bit of a let-down, but it has some unique wallpaper and that rarecrow. I like the purple spruce wallpaper for my mushroom processing shed.

I already managed to get the rarecrow by spamming Calico Spin with a 100 bet until I got the jackpot. Only needed to buy coins a grand total of one time, to get me started. :D
Doubt I'll want anything else from the place. Blackjack Calico Jack isn't that interesting.

I started a new save to test an approach a youtuber mentioned -- not farming in spring of year 1, but rather focusing on fishing and the mines and then using that to kickstart summer. It is going to be very difficult for me to resist the siren call of tulips and strawberries, especially tulips. I am thinking planting some decorative tulips just so I have gifts for Haley.

I figured out how to add fish and stuff to a fish tank. So now 4 of the legendary 5 fishes swimming happily together in a decorated tank despite not wanting to share an entire fish pond with another legendary fish. I leave it to my spouse to feed them. Speaking of my spouse, she still hasn't wanted to adopt a daughter. I guess she's still a bit worn out after taking care of our son.

The quarry now have enough mystic stones for me to take on the quest Four Precious Stones if it appears. Took on the dangerous Skull Cavern last time to unlock that option. Easier than it would've been if I had to rely on finding stairs. But I was running out of week to get a decent day for it, so I only encountered 3 treasure rooms before floor 100, with trashy treasure. The best floor was a prehistoric floor.

On the last day of year 3 I went to trade over 400 pieces of jade for staircases, mostly thanks to my crystallariums. I think I'm well prepared for the Desert Festival this year. Time to take another screenshot, or a few, for my progress thread, but I might wait until I've planted my spring crops. I'm still low on cash, despite having close to 15 million G in processed goods. Debating with myself how many coffee beans I should plant, and whether I should buy any seeds or rely on mixed seeds. Spring's my favorite season for planting mixed seeds, since they won't grow any regrowing crops. I prefer regrowing crops to be in somewhat neat sections and not all over the place.

Nice to see you after so many pages without you. What farm map are you using for your "no/limited farming Spring Y1" challenge?

I got impatient and bought perfection waivers for the first time ever. I would have had to buy them anyway because me journal notes/pages/things errored (probably one of my mods messing it up) but it would have been fewer if I waited two more months. But, alas, I want gold chickens now!
