1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

Completed the Extended Family quest for the first and probably the only time this save, despite the Winter Star feast forcing me to do it in just 2 days. Rather than order a new pond for the Legend II I caught, I gave it the Angler pond, and gave it a golden cracker. Should sell the 160 jars of aged Angler roe now that the stack won't grow any further, and a few other stacks to afford the island obelisk since I've got the materials for it, but still haven't decided which stacks.

First ostrich hatched, and was given a cracker. Still no dino egg though, which is also the only thing lacking in my museum collection.

Got the slime charmer ring, but since I used up my cinder shards to put the crabshell ring on an iridium band, it remains uncombined.

Reached year 3, and for once I remembered to take a detour to the shrine for the statue on day 1 of Spring, and placed it too. Having fewer crops to plant and water is what let me have time for it, along with having remembered to make strawberry seeds before the end of Winter. Trying to plant crops to complete the task of shipping 15 of each crop, since I only ship gold quality vegetables unless it's for a "ship 100 of this crop" special order. Have yet to check the special orders board or the available Qi quests, but I hope for the other spring specific special order.

ETA: Oops. 120 jars of aged Angler roe. Memory mixed it up with the sell price of just over 160k G.

Got another 13 Legend II from an Extended Family quest, including one iridium quality Legend II. During that fishing spree, I was able to get my final mastery and the Advanced Iridium rod, and one of the Legend IIs gave me a treasure chest with a dinosaur egg close to midnight. It went into the incubator ASAP, and replacing the Mutant Carp, the Crimsonfish, and the Glacierfish had to wait until the next day. Ordered another pond, despite having to buy the stone for it. Sold the aged roe from the other legendary fish, only keeping the Legend and Legend II aged roe.

Gave Abigail the mermaid pendant the day after that quest ended, and picked the Chef's shirt for the wedding, dying a pair of farmer's trousers to match. Abigail wasted no time suggesting free-range slime farming. Not gonna happen. Slime hutch or not at all.

Took on a Robin's Resource Rush for wood, and then made kegs with the wood. Will place most of those kegs on Ginger Island so I can move the production of starfruit wine out there, but one went into the kitchen for when the raccoons ask for juice. Extended Family was one of Qi's options for the week following the wedding, but I picked Qi's Prismatic Grange since I'll need some time to make ponds for the Legend IIs I have. Went to the volcano to combine slime charmer ring with burglar ring, which makes my life easier. Still not enough G for the Island Obelisk, so I might have to resort to selling off some of my dried purple mushrooms. The stack of those has grown to over 300.

(Yesterday, tehcnically)

Had to reset the day: I got my 10th Squid in the derby at 1:40 AM and passed out on the way to the rewards counter.
On the reset, I had an absurd early run of wimpy fish, so I only got 7 squid by midnight - and decided a lesser prize was better than passing out before getting the full set.

(On both days I had a couple of other errands that couldn't wait due to special board quests, so I wasn't on the beach till 3 pm. I'm not THAT bad at fishing).

Woke up to a house with a kitchen, but opted to hold to (real world) bedtime, and decided redecorating with the stuff that's been waiting in a chest and moving my food to the fridge is a later today thing.

I'd say that Trout Derby and SquidFest are really good times to use a bait maker. First few fish into it, or in the case of day 2 some of the fish from day 1, then having a much better chance of catching the target.

Yeah, this was year 1 for a new farmer, so I don't have a bait maker set up. Otherwise I would totally agree.
I've normally not bothered with a bait maker until I have to make one to reach perfection. In my current save I was able to make one before the Trout Derby and my success there made me use it for SquidFest too. And as usual I've ignored those two festivals in year 2 and onwards, since I've got the prizes I want.

I just bought my first Gold Clock! Three saves, and this is the closest I've been to perfection 😁. I've even killed all the necessary pepper rex (I hit a couple of prehistoric floors on a high-luck auto-petter-seeking run, so I took the time to clear out just those floors), now just gotta kill a handful more mummies and serpents. Oh and make my spouse happy for that last stardrop. Whee!

Middle of winter, year 5. Other than skull cavern killing ,gotta remember to make blue grass starters and set them up in my animal pasture before spring 1!

Completed the museum collection. Was a bit surprised when the dino egg didn't give me the achievement. Seems like I forgot to hand in a Slate, so it took a few geodes to get that.

Sold a full stack of Ancient Fruit Wine, and then got 3 of the obelisks. Now it will be a lot easier to take care of the island farm. Weeds killed 3 of my perennial crops, 1 corn and 2 tomato, while I was busy with the desert festival. Retaliated by extending the starfruit plantation by 4 iridium sprinklers. Then took on a Danger in the Deep quest where one day got cut short because of the Flower Dance. Have enough staircases to be able to force a descent if I start to run out of time. I always force getting to the next elevator floor at the end of each day of that quest.

Leo has moved to town, making him easier and harder to locate for gifting.

I should get a second silo, and maybe sell the goats.

Built a second silo, and a mushroom processing shed. Also went from 8 dehydrators to 20, as I have a few too many common mushrooms just sitting there despite having sold one full stack of them. 31 preserve jars left to make for the sheds, 10 of them going to the mushroom shed. Over on Ginger Island, I've finally planted the 3rd iridium sprinkler of perennials, and realized I need more kegs there if I'm to handle the output of the current 8 iridium sprinklers of starfruit, especially since I intend to expand the planted fields.

Took on a "Hungry Skull Cavern" quest, and went in with the boost of a magic rock candy. 7 treasure rooms before floor 100, but the best loot was a golden animal cracker. Floor 100 and 101 had identical chest content: Dark cowboy hat, which I already had. Went down a few more floors and ended up on a prehistoric floor before giving up for the night.

Leo is now the only one not on my "can be ignored" list, but I've got his second recipe so now I can cook any recipe. I think I'll wait with working on the cooking every recipe achievement until I get the Qi's Cuisine quest. I should, however, work on getting the last few fish, so I can get the last stardrop.

Got a Trash catalogue, just what I need for when I get an attic. No new buildings yet, but I need just 5 more preserve jars for the mushroom shed, and I've added about 17-18 more kegs to Ginger Island, so it feels like the farm is finally up and running. I consider making a slime hutch, to make and sell slime eggs.

Took on another "Hungry Skull Cavern" quest, and completed it on just a lucky lunch. Best loot from the treasure rooms was a crystallarium. Added it to my jade-making room. Should fill that room, really, but I keep being kinda short on stone. Was hoping for an auto-petter. It would've got me that much closer to building another barn or coop, since I'm so far determined to not build one until I get a third auto-petter. So far I'm 0/3 on that front.

Only book that remains for the Well-Read achievement is the Treasure Appraisal Guide. :hmph: I won't sell any of my dino eggs until I've got one. Scorpion Carp and Octopus remains to be caught for the Master Angler achievement... as usual.

Saw Leo's final heart event. Almost there. Seen Abigails post-marriage heart event too. Our adopted son is still sleeping like a baby.

I think I'll need to sell some stuff soon, to be able to afford to replenish my stock of starfruit seeds. What remains after I bought the seeds for Fall won't get me much.

Hatched my first slime today! I got perfection for the first time a couple days ago (woo!), so now I'm going to just have fun decorating, streamlining, and trying things I've not tried yet (never built a slime hutch before) and I think slime raising will be an adventure. Though I'm not sure I'd be brave enough without the slime charmer ring.

Working on getting enough moss to flesh out my mystic tree forest with mushroom logs, and pondering if I want to leave my semi-wild mahogany tree forest as is or put something more decorative there. Hmmm.

p.s. Any guidance on spoiler etiquette is appreciated - I put some late-game content in spoiler tags just in case, but I'm not really sure what constitutes a spoiler in a thread like this...

Congrats on reaching perfection! And on hatching your first slime! What color?

Have you combined that ring with some other ring, or are you wearing it as is? I tend to combine rings as soon as I can. Still no lucky ring though.

In a thread like this, I think very little would constitute a spoiler, considering what's been brought up over the last few months, but I must admit that I'm not entirely sure.

Thank you! I feel like I got a pretty good seed this time, and I also knew more what I was doing. My first go-through, I didn't even realize that I could let the animals out of the barn/coop 😅.

It's purple, and I have a green one and a red one going in next (I forgot that I had crafted an incubator for completion until this one hatched).

Have you combined that ring with some other ring, or are you wearing it as is?
I've combined it with an iridium band. I actually did that with my very first cinder shards, before I even enchanted anything, haha. I've got several combined rings... my everyday-wear rings are the slime charmer/iridium band, and a combined burglar ring and vampire ring. For treasure-floor-hunting skull cavern runs I use a luck ring/iridium band and a luck ring/crabshell ring.

I sourced the luck rings by boosting my luck otherwise and clearing out the quarry mine a couple of times. No guarantee, of course, but I got two in about four or five attempts.

I think very little would constitute a spoiler
Ok, that makes sense, thanks!

I think it never hurts to use a spoiler tag, but this entire thread is tagged 1.6, so also think pretty much anything in the game is okay to discuss in the clear here.

The ring combinations I've been using the most have been iridium band/crabshell ring, and either burglar ring/slime charmer ring, or slime charmer ring/luck ring. Mostly because I've been going down the Skull Cavern to complete the monster eradication goals, so going safe from slimes helps. I'll probably change it when going mainly to look for treasure rooms.

Most of the times when I've got my first lucky ring in a save, it's been from panning, or at least it feels like that's been more common.

The baby turned into a rugrat.

My jade-making room has got more crystallariums added to it. Despite adding some kegs to Ginger Island, it's still not enough to handle the production of starfruit.

Ventured down the Skull Cavern on a day with good luck and favorable blessings. Only used a lucky lunch though. The treasure rooms were kinda worthless, but I didn't feel it was worth retrying. I got a prehistoric floor, and there's no guarantee it would've been there if I restarted the day, since it could've rolled for a layout incompatible with prehistoric floor. No lucky ring so far in this save.

The stacks of artisan goods have grown enough that I figure I might have enough for the golden clock if I sold most of them. Not gonna do that yet. Might wait until I have a full stack of aged Legend II roe. Caught a few more of them, but what I really need to do is catch a bunch of seaweed to make more ponds. Fish in a chest doesn't produce any roe.
