Year 3 will soon be over now, steady income is guaranteed, so I finally paid Robin to build the new house for Pam and Penny. Asked at Sunday 21, so it might be ready just before Feast of the Winter Star. Perfect timing, I think. Gave Harvey a Truffle Oil for birthday and was finally invited for a Ballon Ride together. Still don't know to whom I should propose, maybe Elliott this time.

Completed both of the spring-specific special requests, so now I've got a daily cup of coffee waiting for me when I wake up. I got enough exp to be able to pick up my first mastery. I guess I'll follow my earlier pattern and get Foraging mastery first. My grove for the mushroom logs could bear expanding (never mind that there's still a bunch of trees that aren't "logged" yet). Purple mushrooms would bring in more money. Or I might chop some of them down and replace them. I have enough oak resin to make a big shed's worth of kegs, and enough maple syrup for maple bars and beehives. I think I'll keep one line of oaks and one of pines though, to ensure I keep getting all the mushroom types.

Kinda forgot to fish up the Legend in the first half of Spring when I had rainy days. Thought I'd have time later. Then I was hit with a dry spell for about the last two weeks of Spring. I guess that now I know which fish will likely be the last one caught, even if I won't know for sure until Spring Y3.

At 24 Winter went into town for strolling around a bit and met Robin, who wanted to hand over the new house to Pam, stayed anonymous as always, so they're happy now. Afterwards walked over to the Saloon for a snack and (while completely forgot about the rabbit's foot) ran into 6 angry Bachelors 🫣... Not really funny but on the other hand much longer and more entertaining than the Pool Game Scene together. Btw, I don't like to argue people, so I finally resetted the day and came back with a rabbit's foot. Everything OK now, we're best friends again. And I did a mines run at 27 Winter to gather the last needed points in Combat and paid a visit to the mastery cave at the last day of Year 3 🎉

Invisible Prismatic Butterfly?!

I got the Butterfly Blessing, and walked into Cindersap Forest, and got the money for finding the butterfly, but it wasn't actually visible.

I have footage. This seems to explain why some people have a tough time finding it sometimes. It's there, you just can't see it!

Was it right as you warped to or entered another map? That’s happened to me. I’ve also be unable to access butterflies spawning out of bounds and areas I can’t reach, I wonder if it can spawn right off the map and not be visible yet close enough to collect from?

Repaired the boat. Have been meaning to go over to Ginger Island ever since, but somehow it's past 5 pm before I can get to Willy's shop. Animals to take care of, machinery to change contents of, and of course harvesting. And then the day is over.

On the good side, I've been able to get a bunch of villagers to the "can be ignored list". One day also went to get Shane's 6 heart event. I've got him at 8 hearts and didn't want to let the rainy day go to waste. Having got the video shoot scene before that (with me still in the police outfit I got from Emily during the desert festival), I can only guess that his video wasn't even close to winning, making him really bummed out.

I'm still trying to figure out which of the singles would be the best fit for the beach farm. Harvey is a definite contender, with the lack of heights (apart from the stairs to the backwoods). Penny too. I think Leah would be happier on a forest farm. The bright colors would feel wrong for Sebastian. Shane and Abigail are out of the running for having married them on other saves. Maru's tinkering would become more of a challenge with the sea breeze making her projects rust, so she wouldn't be happy there in the long run. I don't want to spare 10 mushroom logs' worth of hardwood on getting a stable, so Haley's out, even if she'd probably really like a beach house.

Welp! After reviewing the footage I've come to the conclusion that the Prismatic Butterfly was LITERALLY CLEARLY VISIBLE so I'm a blind idiot.

But here's one that's irrefutable: So, I was standing on the bridge in town where one catches the Angler for hours and hours (minutes and minutes irl), and then, around 9pm, the Prismatic Butterfly came down from off map and so I went and got it. I guess it was just hanging out up there, off screen, off map, for like 10 full minutes before deciding to show itself.

So THAT'S why people can't find it sometimes. It cheats by hiding.

Oh and don't ask why I was standing on the bridge that long. It's just a hobby of mine heheh.

Beach Totem and Triple Shot Espresso may help. I'm working on getting the Island Obelisk asap or crafting Island Totems, if I gather enough Dragon Tooth 🤓

And maybe Elliott would be a good choice, he is used to sand and crabs in his shoes 🤔

I read that first thing wrong and went: I do have... No, wait, it was Beach totems, not treasure totems. I do have both, even if the beach totems tend to spend most of the time in a chest, until I need them. I tend to do other stuff too when running through town, like checking the request board, visiting those that have yet to reach the "can be ignored" level of friendship, or taking the mine cart to go past the smith or the museum, so it's pretty rare that it's such a direct path that a beach totem is the better choice.

Every time Elliot mentions sand in his shoes, I'm reminded of FFVI and the quote "Ahem! There's SAND on my boots!" from the enemy general walking through a desert...

Have played a lot today and have been able to get to Willy's shop in time more than a few times now. The most fun thing that's happened is that I accidentally remembered Leo's birthday with the best gift possible. Had got my first iridium duck feather and intended to kickstart his friendship. More of a kickstart than I thought it would be. Restored the farmhouse, freed Professor Snail and have got most of the stuff he wants. Now I only need the spine to complete the last exhibit and restoring the resort. Though I might end up getting the few walnuts I need from somewhere else. Two gem birds down makes the remaining two positions easier to guess, and the crops for the gourmand frog are nearly ripe.

One book left to get: Jewels of the Sea.

Finally got an ancient seed, from an artifact trove. I've been using treasure totems to get my hands on those troves. Wasted no time in getting the museum reward seed planted, and planted my second banana tree at the same time. The first banana tree got planted on the island though.

All minerals found and handed in to the museum, and now there's only a few artifacts separating me from having a full museum. Then I'll make a museum of sorts in the farmhouse. Will need to buy a few things to complete that museum though, or it won't look right. I generally avoid decorating the house, since items have a tendency to snag and get picked up instead, sometimes without even touching them.

Indeed. There should be a sign beside the door to warn us that she's closed monday mornings (grocery shopping) and tuesdays (training with the other women). Not to mention other days when she will take her sweet time to get behind her counter. I'm happy that I've bought the book that allows me to buy stuff from her even when she's not there, but until that's available, it sometimes seems like a darn lottery whether I'll be able to make a needed purchase.

Just a warning, if Marnie goes to the beach, you can buy supplies, but not animals, even if you have bought the book. So if you plan to buy an animal on a particular day, close the resort ahead of time.

Marnie is lazy as hell. I almost never have the opportunity to visit her ranch without the shop closing or her not being there.

I took care of both island-specific special requests, and finally paid a visit to the walnut room. I could've visited a few days earlier, but thought it better to wait until Monday. Picked up a Danger in the Deep quest. Depending on how far I get during the week, I might have to take my stash of jade and take a quick detour to the desert on Sunday to get a bunch of staircases. Some rubies to trade for spicy eel might also be nice, if I can remember to bring them.

My mushroom log grove is slowly being replaced with mystic trees, with tappers being moved from ordinary trees to mystic trees as they mature. Well, they're being replaced apart from the two lines that will ensure I keep getting all kinds of mushrooms. I think it's something like 21 trees down, 35 trees to go, and 14 to keep. Having access to Ginger Island really speeds up the process of getting the mahogany seeds to make the mystic tree seeds, though it's been put on pause to deal with the Qi quest, so this week all I get is what the mahogany grove drops... Oh, I mustn't forget the forest floors of the dangerous mine. I might get a few seeds there too.
